Sample 1st Paragraph for the PHD in Biostatistics

A young Indian man pursuing his education and dreams for Big Data in the USA, I have spent a little over one year working on the West coast, in Sacramento, California, with the California High-Speed Rail Authority. Previously, I spent nearly a year completing an internship for the State Government of New York doing immigration research. Having earned my MS Degree at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, I have made Albany my home base in the USA and look forward to being able to continue to take advantage of my support network and earn the Ph.D. in Biostatistics at the State University of New York at Albany. Ultimately, I want to return home to India, which will soon be the most populous nation on earth and do what I can to put statistics at the service of our healthcare systems, fighting infectious diseases, which we are especially vulnerable due to our sheer numbers and our still very much underdeveloped healthcare infrastructure.

Sample 1st Paragraph for the Master's Degree in Statistics

My fascination with Statistics came with the realization that the applications are almost limitless. The expert application of statistical techniques has the potential to beneficially affect almost every aspect of people’s lives and I seek to become an expert practitioner, researcher and teacher in this field of study. I find that the mix of highly technical and the ‘soft, artistic’ skills of intuition and subtle interpretation that are required of an expert in the field make the subject an excellent fit for me. I now seek to acquire the high-level skills and knowledge to enable me to achieve my goals and to maximize my utility in the world.

Sample 1st Paragraph for the Master's Degree in Statistics

Born in Uzbekistan and raised in Russia, I came to the USA at the age of 18 as a political refugee. A citizen since 2010, I live with my family in Florida. This coming May, 2020, I will finish medical school at the University of Florida and I hope to be selected for a residency program in Dermatology. Looking forward to practicing medicine in America for many decades to come, I find my special focus on Dermatology to be especially satisfying and engaging. In addition to the rigors of medical school, for the past year, I have served as a Clinical Research Associate at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, assisting with non-melanoma skin cancer research and treatment. This experience will help me to hit the ground running and excel in your program.
