I am a military professional originally from Uganda who wants very much to become a social work professional, to help veterans who suffer from a variety of special challenges but, most specifically, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I now live in America because I was granted political asylum based on being persecuted because of my sexual orientation in my country of origin. Ugandans were given special treatment with respect to recruitment for the many thousands of security guards that have long been needed in Iraq, because of our exceptional skills in English; we are easier to train. Working as an armed security guard in Iraq was a formative experience for me sparking my interest in social work. I want to have the profound privilege of helping adults and children to survive the great difficulties that often confront military personnel and their families. I witnessed first-hand how the war was affecting our service members’ lives in Iraq. I have spent a lot of time reflecting on how difficult it will be for many of them when they return home, especially those with PTSD: divorce, unemployment, family rejection, even homelessness for increasing numbers. Many if not most of our veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, and the conflicts of the future, will need some level of help to lead functional lives upon their return. Most are still incredibly young, rendering them particularly vulnerable. I will be enlisting in the National Guard next year in preparation for joining one of the branches of the US military. I hope to utilize what I learn in your program in the service of the US military, with special attention paid to the study of how to go about building increasingly creative response mechanisms for PTSD, with an eye to prevention as well as treatment and among both veterans and active military personnel. I am an orphan, both parents dying while I was still a child. I have had to fend for myself my whole life. It took me a long time to learn to share my problems, to learn that a problem shared is a problem half solved. On a personal level, I feel very strongly deep down inside me that I became aware of PTSD while growing up in Uganda. In addition to being gay, there was a lot of political violence and instability all around me. I was myself routinely beaten, especially as an adolescent, and I never knew where the next beating would come from. The reasons for this violence are complex, and I do not wish to explore them; rather, I prefer to focus on recovery, and especially enjoy the company of others who share my intrigue with PTSD, either because they themselves suffer in this way, or they have a loved one with PTSD, or they have decided to make it a professional focus for one reason or another. Since I am joining the military and hope to build a career as an active member, I hope to learn a great deal over the long term about military institutions: because of holding the MSW. I will, of course, be treated completely differently; and I am certain that my military career will be especially satisfying because of earning this degree from the University of XXXX, an especially renowned program. XXXX’s MSW Program is my first choice because of your special focus on military issues. America is now my country and I consider myself a patriot. I want to help those who pay such a heavy price defending our country and are often forced to endure long separations from loved ones, as well as having to deal with frequently traumatic situations. I want to dedicate my life to becoming the absolute best social worker possible so that I can help our military personnel stay strong. I feel very strongly that I have the kinds of core personal and professional values that qualify me for study in your program, and later a long and rewarding career helping service members to stay connected to their support systems, counseling individuals who are about to deploy as well as their families: especially through crisis intervention and help for those that have undergone a traumatic experience. My greatest joy would be leading workshops on a variety of topics related to the care of our mental health as soldiers and families of soldiers, issues like transitioning from deployment to everyday life. Since I was 15 years, I have never stopped being a vocal advocate for HIV-positive people who were discriminated against, serving as an advocate for greater public awareness concerning the spread of this disease. I was in Junior High school when both of my parents died of AIDS and the disease left an indelible mark on my soul. Within the next few years, the disease reached pandemic proportions in Uganda. My first social work position was as a volunteer with some of our most vulnerable children (orphans) in Uganda. More recently, here in a resident facility in the USA, I have also worked with children with AIDS. As the first born of six children, when my parents passed away, I took up the responsibility of parenthood and this had a profound influence on me for many years and influenced my course of study at university. I decided to major in social work because I wanted to acquire knowledge and the skills for reaching out to disadvantaged people, orphans for example, and the elderly. I knew firsthand how it felt to lose parents, and to have to struggle mightily to attain an education because of poverty and the duty of helping one’s family. As a gay man and a person of color, I very well understand what it means to be discriminated against and to feel isolated. While here in the US, I have volunteered with different organizations working with the homeless and HIV/AIDS infected persons, and I have learned how drugs here in America are taking an enormous social toll on the lives of young people, dropping out of school, often becoming homeless, prostitution, STDS, leading to low self-esteem, a high crime rate, and death. I witnessed vicious cycles of poverty and disease in Uganda, and I had to struggle myself against social discrimination and isolation from my people in Uganda and even here in the United States. I want so very much to attend the XXXX School of Social Work because of the way that your program provides excellent graduate education for people destined to create social change. I have much to contribute, especially to soldiers and veterans contemplating suicide because of PTSD and/or low esteem. I want to labor to help restore hope. I want to study the issue of HIV/AIDS within the army. People rarely talk about HIV/AIDS within the army and there is need for extensive research within this area too. I also have a special interest in geriatric veterans, especially those that are homeless. Most universities in the Developing World have deficiencies when it comes to libraries and information, but I did my best and utilized all the limited available resources to make it through. Our social work program didn’t have any special concentrations, so I was awarded a generic social work degree. I learned how to think critically and to intervene when serving the emotional, social, and psychological needs of clients, gaining knowledge that I was able to apply during my fieldwork placements. I did my first field work with a probation office. This office was responsible for helping women who were battered by their men. I was able to apply what I had learned in the fields of psychology, social services, human growth, behavior, and development, and effectively analyze these people’s problems and help them to choose among diverse options and services. In my second field work placement, I was able to work with a community service department at the district level, attending court sessions and interviewing petty offenders to access their eligibility for community service. I was also responsible for supervising these offenders at their placements. I authored my dissertation on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices surrounding the issue of female ownership of property. I decided to do this study because of the many problems that women faced who sought help at the probation office. I want to have the profound privilege of helping adults and children to survive the great difficulties that often confront military personnel and their families. I very much look forward to developing my leadership skills as an Officer, receiving specialty training that will serve as a foundation for constant, life-long professional growth. I am a young man who was born in Romania and raised in Queens N.Y. I want very much to become a fully accredited professional in speech pathology because this is where my highest calling in life lies. This is why I studied toward and completed by the way in which speech impediments often seem to go hand-in hand with being a member of an under-privileged group in society, especially an ethnic minority, and I look forward to being able to help these individuals succeed in life by overcoming this special difficulty that they have in communicating with others. My own status as someone who was born outside of the United States undoubtedly contributes to my appreciation for cultural diversity and my especially sympathetic interest to the plight of some of the most vulnerable members of ethnic minorities. I see the Graduate Program at XXXX University as representing a unique opportunity for me to embark on a crucial new professional chapter in my life and be able to optimally prepare myself for a career with the enormous satisfaction that accompanies service to others, helping them overcome debilitating problems that stand in the way of a fully productive and satisfying interaction with others on personal and community levels. XXXX University is the only school to which I am applying because the program is the best fit for my interests, elevated level of motivation, and the development of my potential contribution to society. I am especially attracted to the program at XXXX's because of its interdisciplinary structure and the way that it offers graduate students an opportunity to select areas of study that meet the requirements for ASHA Certification. I am also attracted to the resources that are available, such as the Health Education Resource Center, Speech and Hearing Center, and opportunities for externships. I look forward to receiving the required certification by the ASHA because of attending your program and I plan to develop a special expertise in child language. I want to work in a grade school that is made up of children from at-risk families because it is here that I will be able to make my greatest contribution to society. I want to help children already at risk because of the demographics and dynamics of their family setting, who also face special challenges with speech. By developing a special focus in this area, I look forward to many decades of highly satisfying service to these precious, innocent, little ones who are our future. I hope to prepare myself for making a profound difference in the lives of those who need me most. At 16, I volunteered at a Senior Citizen Center in Queens and met a lot of war veterans with speech problems caused by stress, injury, or a combination of the two. I did my best to try to help them and still visit one of them on a weekly basis. My friend Markus, who lost a sizable chunk of his soul in Vietnam, has improved his ability to speak and socialize, and his war stories are now a lot more dramatic and articulate. It has been very gratifying for me to have helped him to have a better life and he has helped me to grow and learn the great rewards of sharing. I am a very dedicated and committed person and ask for the opportunity to give my all to your program. Thank you for considering my application. MA Master's SLP Personal Purpose Statement

I was determined from an early age to try to ‘make a difference’ rather than just ‘make a living’ being fortunate in having parents who regarded service to others not as an option but a necessity in life. I excelled in chemistry at school and developed a genuine love of the subject. I am also an outgoing person who finds great satisfaction in helping those around me. Pharmacy provides me with an ideal way to apply my aptitude and characteristics in directly helping others in a variety of ways. I am currently a full-time undergraduate student at XXXX University having been awarded the Presidential Scholarship. I am majoring in Pre-Pharmacy and expect to graduate in 2018. My academic record, both at high school and in my undergraduate career to date, is excellent as the award of the scholarship and my grades and awards will testify. I am incredibly contented living and studying at UXX and particularly appreciate its Christian based ethos, its excellent laboratories and facilities and the generous ratio of faculty members to students and, of course, their high caliber and accessibility. I am an active member of the college Bible Study Group and play on an intramural dodge ball team. I was appointed to be Resident Advisor on XXXX Dorm whilst still a sophomore and feel very honored to have been chosen. I grew up in various locations in North Carolina and my ambition is to work in one of the underserved counties in that state to enhance people’s health and the quality of their lives. My father was a member of the US Air Force and consequently we moved home regularly. This background has provided me with the ability to adapt quickly to new situations and people and I am used to interacting happily with people of many cultural and social backgrounds. My membership of the Scouting movement taught me much about relating well to others, being tolerant, cooperating, constructive teamwork and working hard to achieve personal and joint goals. I also enjoyed assisting in the training of junior members and found great satisfaction in helping scouts convert their potential into solid achievements. I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout which I believe is an indication of a high degree of personal development, determination, and diligence. I have worked as a volunteer in a soup kitchen for homeless people and am a church youth leader. I have a favorite Bible verse that I believe provides the best possible health advice and seems to apply well to my career choice – "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies" 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20. When so much unhappiness today is linked to substance abuse, this seems to me very modern and apt. I am attracted to pharmacy because it involves direct patient contact and a high degree of autonomy. I am aware that the pharmacist is often the ‘first port of call’ when medical problems arise, and this fact confers heavy responsibilities in ensuring that appropriate action is identified, and advice provided. I am excited at the prospect of joining a profession in which so many exciting and life enhancing advances are made so frequently. Working as a volunteer in the pharmacy of a local hospital brought home to me the fact that the pharmacy profession is directly and significantly affected by the aging of the population. I enjoy interacting with the aged and look forward to the chance to be of direct help to them in my future career. I have observed that people from eastern cultures treat the aged with exceptional gentleness and consideration without in any way patronizing them, as someone born and raised in the US, I have drawn lessons from such observations which I intend to apply in my career. I look forward to assisting in research during the program and am particularly interested in the development of chemotherapy medications. This interest was fired by the diagnosis of a rare bone cancer in a close family friend who is 12 years old and currently under treatment. I am aware that the best Pharmacy programs attract high numbers of first-class candidates. However, I possess and have demonstrated the aptitude, diligence, basic skills, and firmly instilled personal characteristics required of an excellent pharmacist. Thank you for considering my application. PharmD Personal Purpose Statement Sample #pharmd #personalstatement #statementofpurpose #editingservice

I have grown up in Lebanon where life is hard for most people, especially because of the prevalence of disease and a health care system that fails to address our ongoing health care crises. Both of my parents are doctors, and this helped to sensitize me from an incredibly early age concerning the suffering that surrounded me, especially since many people died from easily preventable disease. With my dad who is a neurosurgeon and my mom who is an OB/GYN, I am thankful to have had powerful role models throughout my development. My dad often gives people a second chance at life and my mom brings new, little people into the world. They have both been highly influential in my decision to also pursue a career as a health care professional, giving my all to do all that I can to minimize disease by fighting it at its source. I am already fully immersed in epidemiology in my private studies because I see it as an area that holds special promise for both public health and preventive medicine. Watching poor people wander the streets in Beirut, desperately in need of help, this gradually instilled in me the dream of doing something about this tragedy that might be able to show concrete progress, if not for our children in Lebanon, at least for our grandchildren. Our public health challenges have also been exacerbated by war, first civil war, followed by devastating wars with Israel. This has resulted in inferior public health infrastructures in many areas of my country, even for a developing country. I see your program at UXX as the best fit for my interests, especially because of the vast inter-disciplinary resources that I will be able to bring to bear on my quest to better understand and confront the spread of disease in Lebanon and throughout the Arab world. Upon graduation from you program at UXX, it is my intention to return to Lebanon where I can put my new skills and understanding immediately to work. I intend to jump right into two prominent struggles that are ongoing in my country: making both the water and the food safer to eat and drink. I plan to put the skills that I hope to learn from UXX to beneficial use in Lebanon. Your distinguished program will enable me to work on the creative edge of the search for new and more effective strategies to improve the quality and safety of food and water supplies, which will have enormous benefit over the long term. The path that has led me to the field of public health began at an incredibly early age. My dad’s hard work and perseverance always motivated me to push especially hard and never give up. Like most of the Developing World, easily preventable disease is most common in Lebanon, and this is where I want to dedicate my life, struggling against this enemy. I have always been amazed and intrigued by how things work in our body, always wondering why certain people got sick while others did not. The class that I took in disease biology enhanced my understanding and confirmed my desire to pursue graduate studies in epidemiology. Volunteering at a hospital has helped made me realize that it’s not that people don’t want to improve their health and the health of their children, it's more that they are simply unaware of the nature and number of threats to their children’s health. This is why I see public health education as the foundation of preventative medicine. Your master's program at UXX would give me the experience and exposure that I am looking for, making full use of my passion for both math and biology. I look forward to the opportunity to develop my skills and enhance my knowledge as a potential leader in my country in public health. MPH Public Health Epidemiology Statement of Purpose

I view pharmacy as a challenging and exciting career. Pharmacists are vital to healthcare today as health practitioners. Their understanding of the pharmaceutical sciences ensures that the drugs are used to maximum benefit in disease prevention and patient treatment by health professionals. I am eager to specialize in this subject with a specific interest in the placebo effect and how drugs can not only affect us physically and mentally, but socially too. I have enjoyed the various aspects of my chemistry course, particularly my A2 course in organic chemistry. I especially liked organic synthesis because it allows you to make complex chemicals such as drugs from remarkably simple materials. Whilst studying mathematics and physics, I have gained an understanding of the need to apply new concepts accurately, quickly, easily, and effectively. These key skills will be essential in the study of pharmacy. Having thoroughly enjoyed the academic study of chemistry, physics, and mathematics, I have chosen a degree that will enable me to combine theory with a practical application. My work experience at a local pharmacy was an enjoyable and challenging experience. I observed the formulation of medicines and learnt about the precision and responsibility with which pharmacists must work. I also learnt how to dispense prescriptions and use the computer to check for interactions with other drugs, correct dosages and print labels for prescriptions. I was also fortunate enough to give advice to customers and indicate the side effects their medication may have. My work experience gave me a valuable insight into my degree area and confirmed that pharmacy is a degree that I will thoroughly enjoy. I have had the opportunity to visit AstraZeneca, the Avlon site, in Avon mouth last year, where I saw how drugs were manufactured on an industrial scale; it was simply fascinating to watch. To widen my view of the field I try keep up to date with recent developments by enlightening myself with the pharmaceutical journals . In addition to my academic studies, I have always enjoyed undertaking sports like badminton and squash and am currently learning to swim at my local sports center every weekend. I also completed the Bath half marathon last year in March 2007. I am fully conversant in the use of computers and have used them to maintain a website and research subjects on the internet. I have also held the responsibility of being a house prefect which has developed my speaking, listening, time management and leadership skills. I have mentored a year 11 student thought his GCSE year helping him with exam strategies and organization skills. This has refined my communication skills and makes me feel like a respected member of the sixth form. I am determined to achieve my long-held ambition to become a pharmacist and to enjoy the stimulation that this career offers. MSC Pharmacy UK Organic Synthesis Personal Purpose

At 34, I have had the opportunity to see what has become for me some of the most critical parts of the world. My experience working at Haiti’s XXXX Hospital for one month in September of 2012 stands center stage among my formative experiences, just as does my visit to the Palestinian territories the previous May. I feel especially at home in Mexico and Spain because I speak the language. In Africa, I have visited Tanzania and Kenya and climbed Kilimanjaro. I admire the way the current president of the United States got his career of the ground, as a community organizer. In addition to my solid background in youth and family counseling along with the promotion of social justice, I am a strong candidate for your program because of my passion and enthusiasm for addressing community challenges in creative ways. Many of the issues that I hope to address in my career as public administration professional are not that different from the issues that Barack Obama wrestled with as a young community organizer in Chicago, especially with respect to youth and social justice issues. The ____ School is my first choice for graduate study because I consider your customized, accelerated degree program to be the principal flagship innovator among MPH Programs. I see the XXXX School as the optimal springboard upon which to launch my career in Public Administration and pursue my ideal job as a policy creator and innovator, working and networking in the community towards the goal of greater social and economic justice for some of the most vulnerable members of our society as well as international society. I very much appreciate how the ____ Executive MPA program has a concrete focus on real life issues and a practical curriculum. I keenly look forward to being able to immediately apply what I am learning and develop my skills further in the real-life context of working with an organization. I am especially eager to enhance my skills in strategic financial and organizational management and I particularly admire the work of Dr. XXXX in the areas of program evaluation and performance measurement. I am at the optimal time in my life to return to full time study on a professional level and to make the very most of the experience, learning as much as I can from mentors and colleagues alike. I am eager to engage in a formal learning atmosphere while I continue to refine my skills on the job. I see my dream of excelling in your program as a natural progression from my professional and volunteer activities so far in my career, taking my dedication to both young people at risk and social justice to new levels that will enable me to maximize my contribution to progressive social change for decades to come. In 2000, I began my own Seattle based NGO, (XXXX) which now has chapters in Portland and San Francisco. The bulk of my work over the last 15 years has been in education and counseling with youth, from pre-school to foster care teenagers. I grew up in Seattle and once I moved back here 7 years ago, I have vastly expanded my own personal and professional networks of valuable contacts for social solidarity initiatives. I feel deeply committed to Seattle and will continue to broaden my participation and collaboration with organizations and sub communities that help our city to move forward towards justice and liberation for all that live here. Most recently, I have become involved with the Social Justice Fund, and I am participating in the Next Generation Giving Circle and a praxis group with Resource Generation. As a longtime supporter of The Service Board, I am now a board member and chair the Risk Management Committee in Bike Works. I thank you sincerely for your consideration of my application to your distinguished program. Executive MPA Global Public Affairs Personal Purpose
- Nutrition Master Statement of Purpose Examples
As a child growing up in Manila, Philippines, I saw countless people who lacked adequate health care, exacerbated by poor nutrition and chronic deficiencies in their physical and mental health. This experience affected my outlook on life, inspiring me to encourage positive change and motivating me to enter the field of nutrition and dietetics. I did not simply see poverty bringing down a nation’s health, I was immersed in it. I was born into a family that loved food but misunderstood its value and purpose, also spurning physical activity – a deadly combination. As I entered adult life, I watched close family members battle type-2 diabetes and two of them passed away from diabetes complications in their early fifties. This heightened my interest in and dedication to the battle against diabetes early on. I married into an Iranian American Jewish family that shares similar food habits as my native culture, with more than half of my husband’s family not only diagnosed with type-2 diabetes but also battling obesity ranging from class 1 to 3, throughout most of their lives. When I began having children, I became more aware of and concerned about the poor eating habits ingrained deeply in my extended family. It took me over five years to get back to normal weight after my first child and during my second pregnancy I was myself diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I found myself researching nutrition and exercise in my spare time which led me to pursue a career in utilizing food and physical activity to prevent and manage disease and obesity. Today, as a mother of two, my passion for healthy nutrition continues to grow – grounded in my own immigrant experience as a young woman from the Philippines, very much impressed by the great need for better nutrition in my home country as well as among my fellow immigrants here in America. I use the memory of my childhood experiences and the knowledge I have gained through nutrition courses to better my own health and that of my family. I have enjoyed some success, persuading my husband’s brother, for example, to follow a diabetic diet with the help of one of their cousins who is an RD. Over the years, I have distinguished myself as a volunteer in clinical and food service settings around Los Angeles, volunteering at Broadway by the Sea, a long-term care facility, and Jewish Family Service (JFS), a multi-service agency providing a wide range of human services at every life cycle. Working under the supervision of an RD in a long-term care facility has enabled me to learn more about the special needs of geriatric patients, particularly with respect to a variety of therapeutic diets. One patient at Broadway by the Sea, Mr. DI, stands out in my mind. He suffered from hemiparesis, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, a stage-4 pressure ulcer of left hip and several other ailments. His pressure ulcer worsened from stage 2 to stage 4 within months at the time that I helped to care for him, and he started losing weight because he wouldn’t eat his diabetic diet order. I did my best to encourage his intake at mealtimes and even tried his therapeutic diet so that I could share the mealtime experience with him. Mr. DI’s RD and I recommended changing therapeutic meals based on his food preferences. Since he preferred poultry, fish, and meat, we offered him high-protein meal alternatives such as salmon, chicken without the skin and leanest meat options. He also had high protein supplements and snacks. Mr. DI started eating more and slowly gained weight. His pressure ulcer improved to stage-2 by the time I finished volunteering at Broadway by the Sea. My volunteer experiences have helped me to develop a rapport with clinical RDs, dietary managers, and front-line kitchen staff – inspiring me to become a tireless advocate for elderly care programs and the improvement of nutrition for older people with a focus on wellness and diabetes management. I look forward to a long professional lifetime contributing to research and practice in the control of type-2 diabetes among older people. I could not be more excited about the prospect of my increasing participation in the struggle against diabetes, especially helping older people to lose weight. My volunteer experiences at the Chaverim, a JFS special social program for people with disabilities, and Home Visitor, a home visitation program for seniors, taught me how to actively listen to clients, paying close attention to the content of their words along with the feelings that they convey. During a Chanukah party at the Chaverim, the catering was over two hours late. The participants began to wander around and ask about the food, showing understandable signs of impatience. I interpreted this as an indication to help, so I decided to help entertain the guests with Israeli dances and Chanukah songs. The foodservice staff finally arrived, and the guests ended up with a lovely Chanukah meal despite the issues in the kitchen. My work with JFS gave me the opportunity to become a compassionate human services provider and advocate for families and individuals at every stage of the life cycle. I started my own business, the Operetta Café & Restaurant while still a full partner at the multinational Career Edge, Inc. I gained many positive and profitable life experiences as a restaurant owner and as I train for a career in nutrition, I am glad that I have a deep, inside understanding of the foodservice world. Owning Operetta has allowed me to apply food safety concepts in a food service setting such as prevention of cross-contamination, time-temperature abuse, and HAACP plans. Prior to taking over Operetta from the previous owner, its health inspection grades varied from B to C. Two critical violations will result in a B. I noticed that most of the violations were time-temperature abuse, cross-contamination and HAACP plans. I solved this problem by training staff on a regular basis on the importance of time, temperature, and use of the food thermometer, preventing food contamination by employees, practicing good personal hygiene, basic knowledge of foodborne illnesses and outbreaks and instructions on cross contamination. The regular basic employee training and refresher courses relieved stressful moments from health inspections. Operetta started passing with excellence, earning an A, 90 to 100 points, which means the restaurant establishment is superior in food handling practices and overall food facility maintenance. Similarly, I was able to cut six months from the hiring and training process by outsourcing (BPO) to offices in Manila and Cebu, Philippines. I also cut the cost of starting the BPO offices by nearly $100,000 off the original budget. Effective financial and organizational management, the ability to delegate and problem solve, and clear, open communication were some of the skills that I improved upon as an owner for both business enterprises. One aspect of my professional career that needs improvement is that sometimes I focus too much on details. I tend to get too curious and distracted by the finer points of a project and I frequently end up spending too much time reading something that may be only slightly relevant. I have become increasingly disciplined and focused, however, as I gain experience. In nutrition and dietetics, I believe that it’s particularly important to stay organized and prioritize and this will enable me to stay focused. As a result of my extensive background in information technology, I created a walking and running tracker app in early 2017 to better integrate technology into everyday life as an easy and effective way to keep people motivated to achieve and to realize their health and fitness goals. This app has inspired many of my family members and friends to increase their level of physical activity. After graduating from UXX, I would like to practice as a clinical dietitian in a geriatrics setting with emphasis on wellness and diabetes management. I believe that the elderly population can benefit from adopting good health and wellness habits through counseling and education programs. With healthy food and physical activity habits integrated into longtime favorite hobbies and interests, the elderly can enjoy a higher quality of life for a longer period. I also plan to become a Certified Diabetes Educator. My long-term goal is to assume a managerial role in a clinical geriatrics field and someday open my own practice focused on diabetes care. Of all the graduate programs with coordinated dietetics internship in the country, UXX’s master's program in Nutrition, Healthspan and Longevity excites me the most because of UXX’s sterling reputation and the wide range of courses taught by leaders in their fields, launching graduates into promising professional careers. Most importantly, it would be an honor to study under Dr. ____ ____, whose research on diabetes I especially admire. I do not submit this application halfheartedly; it has been my passionate intention for years. I am now fully prepared academically and mentally to undertake the rigor of your program. Thank you for considering my application to the XXXX School at UXX. Nutrition Master Statement of Purpose Examples
- PHD Pharmacy Personal Statement Indian Applicant
I am an incredibly determined student of pharmacy who is highly motivated to excel, always focusing on progress and constant improvement. This is noted, for example, in that while I only graduated with the top quarter of my class at the conclusion of my undergraduate studies in Pharmacy, when I completed my Masters, I graduated in the top 10% of my class. I know many Indian students seek admission to universities in the USA, especially for graduate school. I feel that I have distinguished myself from much of my competition, however, not only by earning a Master’s Degree but also by the fact that I now have invaluable experience in the university, serving for two years as a Graduate Teaching & Research Assistant with the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and presently serving as Exam Administrator for the Master of Pharmacy Program at Gujarat Technological University, India. My primary research interest at this stage in my career is in Medicinal Chemistry, particularly the way in which plants from my native India have been shown to be effective at treating malaria. I also want to focus on the modification of resistant antibacterial drug molecules, the development of prodrug concepts, and API development by time factor in accordance with cost minimization. Wholeheartedly dedicated to lifelong learning, I see myself as an avid student of pharmaceutical science for many decades to come, continuing to publish my findings. I want to invent drugs that can cure and even eradicate diseases in the most affordable way possible so that those who need them most have access to them. Your PHD Program in Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi is my first choice for graduate school because of my deep admiration for many aspects of your program, particularly your focus on toxicology as well as medicinal chemistry. I am also looking forward to learning everything that I can in your program about pharmacy administration. Being accepted into your program at the U of XXXX would be a dream come true, the chance to study with nationally and internationally recognized research scientists in a host of areas closely related to Pharmacy. I see myself as an especially good fit with your program because my long-term objectives include working towards the establishment of my own pharmaceutical research firm dedicated to the service of small to medium scale pharmaceutical companies that do not have their own research units. First, however, I would like to gain experience in multinational pharmaceutical companies as a senior scientist. I have a strong research background based on a sound theoretical knowledge base, coupled to an elevated level of technical proficiency along with strong analytical and practiced leadership skills. By the time that I entered high school, I was excelling at what interested me most, both biology and chemistry. My fascination with these areas led me to the logical choice of working with medicine as a pharmacy professional. A licensed pharmacist with extensive experience in my native India, I am now studying diligently to complete pre-requisite classes here in America at XXXX Community College in Houston, Texas. My short-term goal is to be admitted to a distinguished PharmD Program such as yours, and my long-term goal is to serve a key role in pharmaceutical cooperation between USA- and-India-based pharmaceutical companies. I wish to devote my life to the therapeutic use of medications, therapeutic evaluations, and making recommendations to patients concerning the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medications. I look forward to always being readily available to the public and giving my all to community service, especially volunteer work with respect to public education. I experience profound joy both in doing research in medicine as well as working with patients and clients. My application is strengthened by the fact that I have considerable professional experience. I am convinced that I will be a good pharmacist primarily because of my zest and enthusiasm for lifelong learning. Every day, in fact, every hour, I make a point to learn something that helps to prepare me to become a better pharmacist. After finishing my degree, I began working with XXXX Pharmaceuticals as a medical representative for about 4 months, primarily in the Respiratory Department, dealing with medications for Asthma, COPD and Allergic Rhinitis. The compounds I was working with were fluticasone, salmeterol, budesonide and so on. In this position, I gained invaluable experience working with a multinational company. I soon realized that patients with lung diseases were not taking medication in proper and effective way so I started volunteering my time collaborating with doctors to educate patients concerning how to take medication effectively. I also worked to introduce more patients to specialized accessories that can work with their inhalers to enhance effectiveness of the mediation. Next, I spent six months working as a Pharmacist at XXXX Pharmacy (one of the biggest pharmacy chains in India) as a pharmacist. My father died at this time and caused me some minor setbacks, but soon I was able to fulfill my dream to study abroad and I complete a two-year program as a Chemical Laboratory Technician in Canada. Over the past several months, I have been learning everything that I can about Pharmacy as a volunteer with XXXX Hospital in XXXX, Texas. I assist both the pharmacists and the technicians. I label and package medication for distribution and have been cultivating a special focus in verification. I have also been volunteering for several months at XXXX Pharmacy in Houston, Texas. Foremost among my learning experiences has been my contribution to community health screenings. I answer phone calls and monitor our inventory making sure that it is all current. Your program is my first choice for Pharmacy school for many reasons, foremost among which is your active learning environment with elevated levels of student participation. I crave this kind of hands-on education and I am also attracted to the idea of taking one course at a time. Your program has the kind of focused structure within which I am confident I will be able to excel. I am keenly looking forward to participation in the broad variety of learning activities at XXXX and I want to thank you for consideration of my application to your program. As with many young people, I was an idealist in high school, wanting to save the world. Under the impression that studying Political Science might help me to go about doing this, I earned my first bachelor's degree in 2011. I learned enough to know that I did not want to enter politics, work for politicians, or spend the rest of my life studying politics. To support myself I spent several years in the corporate world, working as an assistant to corporate executives. This also failed to satisfy me as a human being. I am thankful to have found my passion, however, in SLP and will be completing my second bachelor's degree this coming May 2017, in Communications Disorders and Deaf Education. This area of study and practice does fill me with a sense of purpose and increasingly brings immense joy to my heart. This is reflected in my GPA so far: 3.68. Before I joined corporate America, I worked with special needs students as a special education teaching assistant providing speech and language services. I often found myself thinking about this experience in my corporate office, so much so that I realized that I should return to SLP and make it my career. I would very much like to work in a school setting, with children in great need. My long-term dream is to one day partner with other professionals in my field, such as an audiologist, occupational therapist, and an otolaryngologist; and open a clinical practice along with other practitioners. Sometimes I dream of helping singers recover from voice overuse, on other occasions I brainstorm and search for a solution to a laryngeal disorder of some kind. In addition to my professional responsibilities, I look forward to doing as much volunteer work as possible in the future, both in my local community and by participating in missions to the Developing World. I have lived in NYC for several years now and I love the energy and pace of my new, permanent, adopted home. I look forward to many decades to come in the city serving as an SLP-CCC. In this position, I will truly be able to feel that I am giving my all and making my maximum contribution to my community and my fellow man. I want to learn the latest technologies and provide non-invasive, highly effective therapy for my clients with voice and swallowing disorders. I also look forward to doing research and attending and speaking at seminars, hopefully combined with an annual volunteer mission trip. I have been enjoying earning my second bachelor's degree in communication disorders and I fear I may miss my studies desperately after I graduate this coming May. Thus, I hope to be selected to begin your program this coming September. I also look forward to quitting my job in the corporate world – less money and more life – and go to work for an organization such as Rockland Bocis where I volunteered several years ago, catering to the needs of clients with speech/language and/or swallowing disorders. I am leaning towards the medical-related side of our profession, treating clients with vocal nodules, dysphagia, and pitch disorders and I am also keen to learn as much as I can about all aspects of SLP. I thank you for considering my application to your distinguished program. SLP Personal Purpose Statement Samples Editing Service

I am a homeopathic physician from India who is building a new home here in America. Over the course of the last several years, I have found myself increasingly attracted to the business aspects of health care, issues of access and efficiency, and how to make health care more affordable as well as more accessible for the underserved. When I think about these issues, I find myself comparing health care in the USA with health care in India, and I look forward to continuing to think comparatively as a student in your distinguished master's degree program in Healthcare Management at the University of XXXX. Your program is by far the finest in Dallas where we are well established due to my husband’s profession. I am a homeopathic doctor with much to contribute to your program and beyond as I make progress professionally here in America. I have special training in a variety of critical areas that will help me to excel in health care management in the future. I have also acquired invaluable experience, preparation, and the focus necessary to excel in your competitive program by working as a medical assistant, becoming increasingly familiar with the medical work environment, terminology, and culture here in the USA. For one year I assisted an MS Ortho doctor by taking patient histories and managing medical records. I have become most proficient using software like MS Access and MS Excel to manage patient history and diagnosis. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to turn my full attention to the issues of access and cost management; always with an eye on how to enhance the quality of healthcare, especially for the most vulnerable members of our community here in Dallas. I look forward to and celebrate the tendency of Americans to practice alternative as well as preventive medicine and I look forward to seeing progress made in the development of more inclusive policies for insurance companies that provide the insured with more options for health care. I look forward to studying in the Operations Track of your program, and learning as much as I can about the economics of healthcare in the USA, providing me with inspiration and a platform for advocacy and participation in the formation of health care related policies. One of the crucial strengths that I bring to your program is my vast experience and advanced capability in everything having to do with IT, especially since I recently completed a course in C++ programming. I am particularly impressed with the profile of the Director of your program, Dr. Forney Fleming and looking forward to studying from a world-renowned expert in cost control in health care. I am also impressed with the profile of Professor XXXX, and I especially look forward to attending his class on Healthcare Informatics. Based on everything that I will learn at XXXX, I will be well equipped to lead a health care organization into the future, helping them to redesign their cost structure and transition fully to a value-based healthcare system. I thank you for considering my application to your competitive program at UT Dallas. I am a 27-year-old woman of Mexican heritage and was raised in the troubled environment of South-Central Los Angeles. My early environment was a spur to me to take advantage of all the opportunities open to me and to try to help others to do the same, it also resulted in a desire to help others. I am mature, self-motivated, compassionate, empathetic, independently minded and possess excellent communication skills. I have undertaken a significant amount of voluntary work involving, for example, helping seniors and ‘special needs’ children in various activities and escorting veterans who are confined to wheelchairs. During my time at XXXX University, I was a member and active participant of a sorority heavily involved in community service. I have also been employed as a Primary Intervention Program Aide, which involved assisting students, up to third grade, who were experiencing school adjustment difficulties. Through my 9 years of service with the Californian Army National Guard, I have developed a deep interest in the welfare of those serving and of fellow veterans, and their families. I hope to be able to undertake research in the areas of military social work and veteran services with the goal of becoming a commissioned Behavioral Sciences Officer in the National Guard. In addition to my exposure to other cultures during my upbringing in California, my military service has extended this during service in Germany, Kosovo, Albania, and Montenegro. I also traveled to several other European and South American countries during periods of Rest and Recreation. These experiences have left me with an understanding of the effects of culture on individuals and the need to take cultural background into account in relating effectively to others. I am a caring person, and my goal is to contribute to the well-being of others, to help people to function more effectively, to assist in bringing about beneficial social changes, in short - to ‘make a difference’. I feel that my background, personal qualities, academic achievements to date and my varied life experiences provide an excellent basis for me to profit from the program for which I am applying and will equip me to achieve my goals.
