  • Med SLP Master Personal Purpose Statement Example

The Med SLP Program at the University of XXXX in Seattle, Oregon, is my first choice for advanced study in Speech and Language Therapy and Communications Disorders for numerous reasons. Most of all, I profoundly appreciate your program's sheer excellence and thorough uniqueness. I fit perfectly with your curricula and the central interests of your faculty. I have known for a long time that I wanted a career in the helping professions; thus, SLP is a natural choice for me since my training has been in Communication Science and Audiology (GPA: 4.6/5 GPA. As a result of networking in solidarity with other healthcare professionals, especially speech-language pathologists, and professionals from closely related fields, I am well-read as a professional, particularly as concerned with assessment and intervention processes for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties. I enjoy preparing review and treatment material and continually updating the materials we use in our clinic. My professional experiences in Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City have given me an unmistakable sense of mission and devotion to service as an SLP. I love being an SLP, and that drives me forward to achieve my goals. I hope very much to be accepted to your especially distinguished and competitive program to have a chance to demonstrate my capacity and ability to excel. I am confident that I have the academic background, relevant experience, knowledge, and personal attributes that will inspire my success as a student in the Med SLP Program at the University of XXXX, especially my great passion for studying in the area of Speech and Communication Disorders - to prepare me for a professional lifetime of helping others. There is a great need for well-trained SLP professionals in Saudi Arabia, and I feel honored to answer this call by becoming highly effective at helping those in greatest need. I see assisting people in communicating, especially with children with development issues, as noble work. I keenly look forward to developing evidence-based, structured speech & language rehabilitation programs, especially for neuro cases in rehab and acute settings. I could not be more excited by the prospect of providing training for clinicians, interns, and students since I adore teaching and want to work to increase my ability and awareness in my community service. After completing your program, my long-term goal is to help as many people as possible overcome swallowing disorders, eventually establishing specialized swallowing centers that can deal effectively with the challenge presented by patients with severe neurological diseases. I want to be a part of educational processes in my country that enhance the efficacy of SLP as a field in Saudi Arabia. I have been working especially hard to cultivate my interest in swallowing and voice disorders for some time now. I look forward to becoming a leader in my field and helping design, develop, and operate clinics and hospitals that can provide advanced treatment services to patients with swallowing and voice issues. For assessment and treatment, we need to develop better-standardized testing that responds to our country's unique needs and challenges, particularly in Saudi Arabia. I’m working as an SLP clinician at the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City. I have been here for four years, including the year I completed my internship. I have been trained and supervised by many highly qualified professionals, certified speech-language pathologists with Masters's Degrees, and some with PhDs. I enjoyed the opportunity to apply my knowledge and skills in various medical settings, including intensive care units and in-patient and outpatient settings. I have also had extensive professional engagement in motor and voice disorders and dysphagia assessment and intervention. I especially enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. I find standing up to and meeting the challenges we face most fulfilling, dealing with adults with CVAs, head injuries, progressive neurological disorders, and dysphagia. Collaborating with PTs and OTs to meet functional goals making every day as fulfilling as possible, and always working to treat every patient's needs uniquely and holistically. I appreciate your considering my application to SLP at the University of XXXX. Med SLP Master Personal Purpose Statement Example

  • Ophthalmology Residency Personal Statement Example

I am a young Saudi Arabian who finished medical school in 2016. I hope to be selected for the Residency and Master’s Degree Program in Vision Science and Investigative Ophthalmology at the XXXX Institute, the School of Medicine of the University of XXXX. Volunteer work has long been of immense importance to my sense of identity – personal and professional. I served as a volunteer with the Saudi Red Crescent Authority from October through December of 2014 and began helping at a hospital for the underprivileged at the same time. I also went on a medical mission trip to help in Palampur, in India’s Kangra Valley, in January 2015. I have been involved in various charitable initiatives, particularly blood drives since this is where I find my greatest joy. After India, my next medical mission the following year was to Tanzania. My trips to India and Tanzania are the highlights of my life so far, when and where I felt most needed and where I could do the best. My participation in support of our mission to Tanzania left me hungry for a lifetime of additional experience as a medical volunteer serving in remote areas of the globe where people have no access to a doctor, much less an eye doctor. These experiences also enabled me to think more critically and creatively about healthcare systems globally. I find myself reading in my free time about issues for huge countries like India or smaller ones like Tanzania, with the people struggling for hope against long odds. Whenever I visit the Developing World, even if I am traveling for tourism, I go to the local Hospital and its ER to look at its designs and speak with a few care providers about the struggles and challenges they face. In grade school, I wanted to see no one left behind, and I helped my classmates who had trouble keeping up with the rest of us academically, tutoring them after school. And I continued to do this not only in high school but also in medical school. I graduated with an honorary degree and was chosen to serve as a Teaching Assistant in the School of Medicine from which I graduated. I hope in time to teach Ophthalmology in my country since Saudi Arabia has a great need for well-trained Ophthalmologists. I also look forward to going on medical missions that encompass eye care in the Developing World – for many decades to come, always combining teaching with research and laboring for the benefit of the community. Teaching new generations of doctors about the rapid changes in Ophthalmology represents the most satisfying career that I could imagine. Truly little research in Ophthalmology takes place in Saudi Arabia, and I want to work to change this in the future. Thus far, several of my research projects have been funded by the School of Medicine. There are several reasons why the Residency/MS Program in Vision Science and Investigative Ophthalmology at the XXXX Institute at the University of XXXX is my very first choice for further advanced training in my chosen field. It would be an enormous honor to begin my formal specialization in Medicine at the world’s leading institution dedicated to Ophthalmic Education and the #1 ranked eye hospital in the USA. In preparation for contributing to the eye care of the Spanish-speaking population of Miami, I have already begun learning the language. Service to the underserved is especially critical to my professional worldview and sense of ethical identity. I have chosen Ophthalmology partly because of the vast opportunities for international missionary service in this area of medicine. Thank you for considering my application. • Diversity Statement Example for MA Education Program

I hope to be selected for your Education Master’s Degree Program at the University of XXXX in part because of my international experience and how it would serve to enhance my contribution to diversity in your program. It was a profound honor for me to be selected for a small group of students sent to India for a volunteer program of 6 weeks. I have also been developing a close relationship with Thailand over many years. While I am 100% Vietnamese, at least genetically speaking, I think of myself as having attained a bicultural identity due to my family in Thailand and my great love for this country and society. For this reason, I have made an enormous investment to become fluent in Thai over the years. My maternal grandfather had a sister who was a refugee in the war with America, fleeing to Thailand and making a new home for herself there. She never returned to Vietnam. But I adopted her and her family as my own and have long been close to most of them. She settled in a small province in Thailand and started a new family there. My Thai cousins are half or one-quarter Vietnamese, but none speak Vietnamese. Thus, before I learned Thai, we could only communicate in English. In addition to extended trips to see my family in Thailand, I also studied there for one month as part of a language & cultural exchange program. Learning Thai also filled a university requirement for a second foreign language. My English is advanced; my Thai is adequate for daily conversations in familiar settings. My appreciation for diversity has also been enhanced by my research and volunteer experiences, especially my service with US Guide Vietnam – an organization that promotes higher learning for Vietnamese students in the U.S. It would be a special honor for me to serve as a research assistant for a faculty member whose research interests in some way included Vietnam. I have something unique to contribute to diversity in terms of culture, intellectuality, and morality in the context of Southeast Asia through my careful study of Confucianism, a tradition that we share with China. Confucianism is a principal component in the cultural traditions of various Asian countries. I am firmly immersed in how this tradition can continue to contribute to enhancing our educational systems. The single most positive influence of Confucius’s teachings is the emphasis on curiosity and respect for intellectuals in society, especially for teachers. We have a national celebration called “Vietnamese Teachers’ Day” in Vietnam , held on November 20th. On this day, students pay homage to all the teachers who have helped them advance their education by giving them thank-you notes, presents, and lots of flowers. The degree of sincerity varies among students, of course. However, the fact that this tradition is still commonly practiced in schools and universities in Vietnam shows that teaching is still considered a respectable career in society. • MSED Education Personal Purpose Statement Expert Help

I hope to be selected to earn the MSED in Education, Culture, and Society at the University of XXXX, mainly because I appreciate the focus of the program on culture and the importance of its incorporation into educational initiatives. I also see your master's program as ideal for realizing my current professional aspirations as a teacher and as the optimal preparation for going on to doctoral study at some point in the not-too-distant future. I am a Vietnamese woman who has passionate dreams about earning my master's degree in America, which would do wonders for my career here in our humble country with a long history of involvement with the USA. I salute the warm relations that began during the Clinton years, and I am pleased to see them continue under the administration of President Trump. I love teaching, engaging in intellectual conversations, and the freedom of having a flexible work schedule. After completing your program at the University of XXXX, I envision myself returning to the university setting in Vietnam and serving as a lecturer, giving the balance of my career to teaching at the university level. I hope to teach in our Division of Country Studies (DCS) at Hanoi's University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS). I have experience researching and teaching at one of my country's flagship universities. After earning my master's at the University of XXXX, I aspire to teach at the lecturer level. I am devoted to teaching so that I can improve the lives of future generations. Most instructors in the English language in Hanoi have a background in TESOL/Linguistics. Thus, I am convinced that graduating from your unique MSED Program in Education, Culture, and Society at the University of XXXX would provide me with training that complements cultural studies and the human educational resources that already exist in my country, maximizing my contribution to diversity and interdisciplinary training in the language arts. The educational institution at which I hope to teach, the DCS, offers classes in cultural studies and critical media literacy with a focus on theoretical perspectives. Students, therefore, are invited to engage with the broader social, cultural, and historical contexts in which their interests are focused. I appreciate culturally sensitive approaches to education because they help concentrate critical understanding of the subject(s) being studied, particularly in International Relations. Ever since Vietnam joined the process of globalization, our educational system has been rightfully examined critically, especially compared to neoliberal perspectives that portray the educational experience as a commodity that is bought and sold. Nevertheless, even when education is seen as a not-for-profit instrument for achieving social equity, that equity tends to be undermined by economic realities, especially as far as capitalism has become the norm in Vietnam to a considerable extent. Teachers become subjects to be constantly assessed; students become customers—privatization results in more privately-owned educational resources with the rise of international schools and universities. More choices are available for students, although only a small number can afford such an education. I fear that the globalization of education in Vietnam will exacerbate social inequality and diminish respect for teachers, who are already underpaid and overworked. To this end, educators in Vietnam need to be in touch with and constantly challenge their definition of what being a teacher means in times of changing economic circumstances and political realities. I seek to understand better how a teacher’s identity results from cultural construction. In this way, teachers can be encouraged to reflect on their professional experience and navigate increasingly effective ways to enhance student learning. For administrators and stakeholders , a nuanced understanding of teacher identity as a cultural construction would help balance quality assurance with respect for teachers’ dignity and creative freedom. Thank you for considering my application to Education at UXXX. MSED Education Personal Purpose Statement Expert Help

  • PHD Linguistics Personal Purpose Statement, Journalist

I am a highly motivated, award-winning Egyptian TV producer and social media strategist; my first and central love is Linguistics. I have earned most of my living as far as a seasoned journalist and a quality control linguist, yet it is academic research that I most enjoy. Linguistics is the center of my intellectual and academic worlds and the area in which I feel most capable of making significant contributions to society, helping to foster the advancement of language arts and education. Thus, I could not be more passionate about and highly motivated to earn a terminal degree in my field. It was a profound disappointment for me not to be selected to study for the Ph.D. Degree in Linguistics at XXXX University this past year. This year, I am applying again and hope to be chosen based on greater clarification of my goals and professional vision for my future as a Linguistics professional. A dedicated husband and family person, I do my best to be a father to our three small children. My wife works at George Mason University in the Communications and Marketing Department, and the University is a 10-minute drive from our home. I cannot afford out-of-state tuition as a young couple just beginning our professional lives. Classes starting after 3 pm are ideal for our schedule as they do at XXXX. I completed my undergraduate and master's degrees in Egypt, spanning the areas of Linguistics and Communications; I next went to Qatar to study for one year towards an additional MA in Audiovisual Translation Studies. I could not finish this program even though I had a scholarship to do so, however, I chose to accept a professional opportunity in the USA. I am confident that if it were not for my studies in Linguistics, I would not have become a well-known editor at Al Jazeera English and the Middle East Broadcasting Networks. My professors in Qatar used to scold me that I was addicted to linguistics because I would go to great lengths to relate the subject of a research project to linguistics in one way or another. Linguistics is my favorite window to gaze at my surroundings, as it mirrors my thinking and that of everyone else. At some point in my career, after earning my Ph.D., I hope to return to Egypt to become a leader in creating new and exciting programs in Applied Linguistics and language education for public universities across Egypt. I will seek to provide my students with the best opportunities to learn effectively through creative and interactive curriculums developed in a way that is tailored to the linguistic challenges that they face as Arab speakers in a Middle Eastern educational environment. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to come to the United States to complete a total immersion experience in English, and I hope very much to combine this with a world-class education in Linguistics at George Mason. I spoke with the Program Director at XXXX University on the telephone in December of 2018, which finalized my decision to seek admission to the Ph.D. Program in Linguistics. Professor XXXX was most encouraging, and I appreciated his suggestion that I find a co-chair - from outside if not inside the university - to guide me on the part of the dissertation about Media. I look forward to learning from the vast experience of Dr. XXXX. I also appreciate how XXXX University prioritizes best-prepared creativity and diversity, graduating some of the best-prepared students in the world. Earning my Preliminary master's degree in Linguistics in Egypt represented some of the best days of my life, and I am most keen to return to academics and throw myself in again, headfirst, this time delving much deeper into the challenges that I look forward to confronting in Linguistics. I started with Egyptian TV, gaining some modest experience before leaving for Qatar, where I spent more than two years serving as a Translator at the As Saliyah U.S. Army Base. I stayed in my next position with Al Jazeera English for another nine years. I work at the Middle East Broadcasting Networks based in Springfield, VA. I spoke at length with a Mass Communication Professor from the University of Maryland, Dr. XXXX, who showed a willingness to serve as a co-chair for my dissertation project. I am convinced that XXXX University’s Linguistics program is the best platform to realize my long-term goal of becoming the most OK linguistics professor I can be. By obtaining a Ph.D. Degree, I will have the wisdom and knowledge that I will need to become an educational reformer in Egypt, helping many new generations of students achieve their personal and professional goals and not settle for less. I look forward to teaching Media Linguistics to students of Mass Communication. I have also toyed with serving in the intelligence community for several years since this is a deep secondary interest of mine in linguistics. There is a great need for creative thinkers in security who are also linguists and native speakers of Arabic. Most of all, I look forward to teaching Semantics. I also hope to publish in this area and to continue with the kinds of research efforts that I look forward to at the beginning of my doctoral dissertation at XXXX University, with a particular focus on visual semantics, most precisely emojis; described by some as the fastest-growing language in history; with others referring to it as the first, truly global form of visual communication. I have tons of important questions that I want to answer as a student at XXXX University. Are the semantic and semiotic norms governing emojis on social media platforms applicable to English and Arabic users? To what extent can the semantic interpretation of emojis vary widely, causing/rendering cultural and linguistic gaps? To what extent can people build shared meaning through visual communication and interaction over time? Does the use of emojis among youth in their interpersonal communications on social media differ according to class, age, gender, race, and ethnicity patterns? How are media technologies shaping the future of language? I am proud of my volunteer service as a simultaneous translator for the Arab League and teaching English to students with special needs in Egypt. These days, I am diligent in my volunteer efforts as a continually active member of the Parking and Landscaping Committees of the Homeowner’s Association at XXXX Community. I currently live only a few minutes away from XXXX University. Thank you sincerely for considering my application. PHD Linguistics Personal Purpose Statement, Journalist

  • LOR from Supervisor Letter of Recommendation

To Whom It May Concern, My name is XXXX, and I am the manager of the XXXX Branch of Wells Fargo. I have been with Wells Fargo for more than 20 years. I have had the incredible privilege of knowing XXXX for over a year since I am her supervisor and work with her daily. Thus, it is an immense pleasure for me to write this letter of recommendation supporting her application to the master's in finance program at the University of California, XXXX. I could not be more confident in Ms. XXXX’s ability to excel in Finance at UC XXXX. XXXX is a rapid learner with a natural talent for problem-solving. I only had to show XXXX how to perform a banking operation once; she did exceptionally well independently. I have long always admired her professional demeanor and her willingness to go that extra mile to please every one of her customers. Once I observed her attention to a customer who came into our branch and asked her a question about his tax return. She could have just printed out the tax return and given the document to the customer. Instead, she investigated and learned the answer to his question and explained it to him patiently. XXXX and the surrounding area have a substantial Asian and primarily Spanish-speaking population to the east of LA. It is easy to appreciate how minorities, taken together, rapidly become a majority in California. Diversity and banking, as in other sectors, go hand in hand. XXXX is unique in this regard because she is also a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese in addition to English. Moreover, she is making considerable progress in learning Cantonese and Spanish. Communication is the lifeblood of finance. Where we live today, our business spans a variety of languages, giving employees like XXXX great added value that has been and continues to be most appreciated. XXXX is highly proficient concerning rules and regulations. She is always attentive and patient with customers; she never stops observing and learning, asking questions, collecting, and analyzing information, and formulating compelling and creative ideas after reflection. Her mathematical and analytical skills are as advanced as her language abilities. When XXXX investigates a problem or a challenge, she finds a solution promptly. It would be a pleasure for me to provide you with any further information about this outstanding candidate for the master's program in Finance at UC, XXXX. Sincerely, LOR from Supervisor Letter of Recommendation

To Whom It May Concern, My name is Dr. XXXX, and I am the Director of the Ocean Law and Policy Research Center at the National Institute for South China Sea Studies. My area of competence is sea law, especially maritime security. My central focus is the Asia-Pacific and especially China's role in the area's development. It brings me enormous pleasure to draft the following on behalf of my colleague XXXX as a candidate for an MSc program in Development Studies at XXXX University. Young, full of energy and optimism - with wisdom stretching beyond his years - XXXX is an accomplished, dedicated, and creative journalist. He could scarcely be more knowledgeable about development worldwide and from interdisciplinary perspectives. While he understands the sciences that drive our interpretations of development, he also never loses sight of the moral and ethical issues that invariably accompany that process. No one is better poised than XXXX to make essential contributions to development, especially as it concerns the Asia-Pacific Region. I am thrilled to review XXXX’s writings before they are posted online, as he has immense talent and insightfulness with the written word. He has been of enormous value to me as my research assistant, helping me with his diligence and dedication; I especially enjoyed the literature and book reviews he has prepared for us. While XXXX is quite knowledgeable about the Developing World, his central focus is on inter-Asian relations, particularly the relationship between Greater China with its neighbors. I saw XXXX grow enormously due to his extensive time studying the maritime industry in Europe. His dedication and ambition show in his mastery of plans that have been laid out, for example, for the joint China-Philippines development of oil and gas resources. The epicenter of XXXX’s thinking and the local theater of his operations is our rapidly developing Hainan Province, particularly in tourism and the film industry, subjects about which he has given presentations at our Institute. Please feel free to ask me anything else concerning the application of XXXX to your distinguished MSc Program in Development Studies. Sincerely, Letter of Recommendation Writing Service

To Whom It May Concern My name is XXXX, and I am the President of the National Institute for South China Sea Studies . I write what follows in support of the application of XXXX to the master's degree program in Development Studies at XXXX. XXXX is currently working at our institute and has been here for almost two years. During this time, I have had the opportunity to get to know him well and come to depend upon his brilliance, enthusiasm, and constant flow of creative ideas. HE WILL BE SORELY MISSED once XXXX leaves us for the most fortunate graduate program. I have given the bulk of my professional life to the South China Sea area and am thus most devoted to my subject. When I think of development it is development centered on this part of the world, the story of, by, and for China. XXXX thinks more globally in every way, in terms of economics, politics, and international relations. He has helped me to better appreciate how Chinese development is increasingly inseparable from global phenomena, our fate rising and falling with the rest of the world. Of course, XXXX is young and thus subject to the optimism characteristic of youth. Still, his optimistic outlook is backed by sound scientific reasoning and a solid grasp of historical facts and reality. His vast knowledge of political and economic realities is most impressive and inspiring. Most importantly, he never stops brainstorming novel ideas to move us forward uniquely and creatively. Hina-ASEAN Academy on Ocean, Law, and Governance is our Institute's representative. This training program is for people in public administration, foreign service, and academia, with participants from across the ASEAN states plus China. Then, in December, he again represented our organization as a panelist for the International Symposium on the “Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)” and Common Development of the Greater South China Sea Region, where he delivered a remarkable presentation concerning the potential for joint China-Philippines development of oil and gas resources. XXXX’s work has been inspiring considering the ambitious expansion of Hainan, particularly in terms of tourism and the film industry, subjects on which he has also given presentations at the Institute and submitted influential and highly creative policy recommendations. XXXX was also chosen for an extensive field trip to Europe to study the maritime industry. It would be a privilege for me to provide the Department of Development Studies at XXXX with any further information concerning the application of XXXX. Sincerely, Letter of Recommendation LOR Writing Service

  • PHD Computational Social Science Purpose Statement

I hope to be accepted to the distinguished program in Computational Social Science at XXXX University primarily due to my dedication to noble ideals, most notably the prevention of war. The central research goal that I have in mind for my investigations at the doctoral level is a simulation of international relations using agent-based modeling, complex systems, machine learning, and information visualization to discern and describe trends in international relations. My research will also entail developing, testing, and refining foreign policy priorities and how this relates to their diplomatic strategies and plans for safeguarding national security, through the avoidance of war. I hope to shed light on the following questions through my doctoral research: “Is the world becoming more peaceful, or is the likelihood of suffering from conflicts and wars on the increase? Is it possible to predict military matches in advance using computer simulation, and what does the simulator suggest for the future of East Asia in terms of peace or the absence of peace? I have long been interested in international relations and military history, which probably has something to do with being Korean since few lands have suffered more than ours as a result of an extensive and sustained conflict that remains unresolved to this day, not only threatening the peace and security of the Korean people but everyone, worldwide, due to the devastating nature of modern-day warfare and the way that it tends to go out of control once it is started. Many scholars of the politics of war see good news on the horizon, suggesting that the threat of war has been reduced in recent years. However, I find this position difficult to accept and remain skeptical about the chances of achieving lasting global peace or even keeping the peace between the world’s major powers. Hence, the urgency that I perceive with my research. Having read widely about international relations, trade, and interstate conflict, I was pleased to discover the Correlates of War (COW) Project. I realized that I could use this data to advance my INF 554 Information Visualization Project, addressing the question of the extent to which there has been an increase in the number of wars over the years and further exploring the relationship between trade and war. By visualizing data sets of the Correlates of War project, including information on Militarized Interstate Disputes, Wars, and Trade, I labored to visualize the relationship between dependence on trade and the number of wars that occurred between countries. Using a map with conflict recorded in graphic form from 1816 to 2014, listing, for example, how many countries were at war in each given year, I was able to explore how these figures changed over time, whether they increased or decreased, which countries took part in the major wars, etc. As a result of this project, I began to consider modeling and implementing a simulation of international relations, using agent-based models, machine learning, statistical methodology, complex systems, and information visualization. I have prepared for research on the doctoral level in many ways, most of all through my efforts in my master's degree Program at the University of XXXX and during my bachelor's program at Inha University. My education has been tailored to prepare for research in modeling and simulation beginning with the two Senior projects I completed as an undergraduate student. As a Masters's student, I focused on the properties and best architecture of neural networks, taking a close look at more than one hundred real-world datasets, the last one I worked on being liver transplant data. This project included analyzing a dataset provided by the Department of Surgery at the XXXX School of Medicine at UXX, identifying features associated with graft survival after orthotopic liver transplantation, and predicting graft survival after Orthotopic liver transplantation using pre-transplant features. By modeling countries with agent-based methods, it would be possible to develop realistic, high-resolution, detailed representations with land, sea, air, space, and cyber domains comprised of human, artificial, and natural components that work together to replicate how international systems work. The virtual worlds of high-fidelity ABMs would be capable of reproducing the known historical record, which could go a long way towards at least shedding some light on the present and the impact on the future that today’s events might well have. In this way, we might be better positioned to ward off conflicts in our international system due to foresight, preparation, and countermeasures, including how to develop, test, and refine a given nation’s mid-to-long-term foreign policy diplomatic strategies. I began by searching for research articles that would provide me with helpful ideas to build a computer simulation for the field of international relations based on my interest in agent-based modeling, which led me to the work of Masad on modeling agents in conflict, Dr. Cioffi Revilla on IR computational modeling, and Dr. ____’s work in war games and computer modeling. Reading such thinkers, I became more aware of the great promise of the field of Computational Social Science. I also realized that many of these thinkers had ties to XXXX University, cementing my conviction that XXU was where I needed to earn my Ph.D. It would be a special honor for me to study under Professors XXXX and Professor XXXX, particularly in international systems, which would provide me with the solid foundation and creative inspiration that I need in this area. This will help me better understand how and why war occurs in our current global system and what prevents states from making war in today’s world - how our international systems are evolving and why. Upon completing my Ph.D., I would like to work with an organization such as Geopolitical Future, Stratfor, or the UN if I do not stay in academia. I hope to continue researching international systems simulations and working towards a vision of the future in international relations. I look forward to giving my all to my doctoral studies with a sense of intense dedication to the goal of providing scholars and political leaders alike with the finest tools that science can devise to help secure a more peaceful world for future generations. By testing and refining plans for international peace and security simulations of global systems, our leaders and those who advise them will have access to additional, handy resources for making critical evaluations and decisions concerning international politics and diplomacy. I am not yet clear about the relevance that my work might have for advancing toward a negotiated peace on the Korean Peninsula. As a graduate student at XXU, I will continue to keep one eye on this conflict and search for applications of modeling in IR that might be useful towards this end. There are a variety of think tanks devoted to solving the Korean conflict, and I look forward to networking and collaborating with those institutions. I thank you for considering my application to Computational Social Science at XXU. PHD Computational Social Science Purpose Statement

  • MSW Statement of Purpose Editor

I identify with Carl Jung’s archetype of the “wounded healer,” who must help others to cure himself. I spent the first five years in Mexico thinking my grandmother was my mother before being whisked away to a foreign land by troubled parents with very few resources. I was wounded not because I was raised in an urban ghetto but because my father was an alcoholic, and the abuse and fights that his disease provoked left us in a perennial state of fear and insecurity. I was a victim of abuse through neglect and raised among worst-case scenarios of undocumented lifestyles in urban southern California. I hope to be selected for your competitive program at XXXX because my story exemplifies struggle and redemption, preparing me well to help families survive and function in a world that often seems increasingly difficult. Most Social Workers have been wounded somehow at some point; what distinguishes us is that we have dedicated our lives to first healing ourselves and then doing what we can to uplift others who struggle to recover from their wounds. I learned to dig deep within myself to transform wounds into wisdom and recovery. My therapeutic experience provided a safe place to explore battles with low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. Dealing with mental health issues in a supportive atmosphere allowed me to question my negative inner dialogue. It helped me uncover and understand better the cultural, patriarchal, and parental influences weighing upon the historical development of my sense of self. Years of therapy have brought me to where I am now aligned with my truth, brave, and fearlessly authentic. At 40, my maturity, suffering, and wisdom have helped me cultivate understanding, empathy, and compassion for myself and others. There are several reasons why XXXX University is my first choice for graduate study for the MSW Degree. I see your online format as innovative in our field, the rigor of your program as unparalleled, and the mission of XXXX University in Social Work to be most closely aligned with my humanistic philosophy and motivation. I crave the stellar combination of academic theory with real-world practice at XXXX. I am confident that I can excel, especially since your online format will enable me to do my field placement at home - in LA. Among your outstanding faculty, I am especially inspired by the work of Drs. XXXX and XXXX. I hope to help shed light on some of those “distinct links between early parenting in the prediction of children’s neurocognition (executive function), emotion regulation and sleep” in the research of Dr. XXXX into the protective factors of neural development in children and adolescents. I hope to receive the ultimate education in social mobility from Dr. XXXX in a global context. I also have an enormous amount of admiration for those professionals who graduated from XXXX. Among women in our field and related areas I deeply admire, none stand taller than Dr. XXXX, a Clinical Psychologist who graduated from XXXX. I aspire to put her creativity and insight concerning parenting to effective use as I tackle many of the challenges we face in Social Work in support of troubled families. Her thinking was an excellent asset for raising my own two boys, now 10 and 16. I referenced Dr. XXXX in the material that I presented at a series of parenting workshops that I taught at ABHS. I attended her Evolve Conference in Long Beach and completed two year-long courses on Manifestation and Manifestation Meditation. A member of her “Luminous Group for Women,” I also completed her courses focused on troubled teens and conscious cleansing. I look forward to a professional lifetime of helping children and adolescents develop the abilities they need to succeed in school and function well in society, participating in research that addresses the mental health issues of children and adolescents from various interdisciplinary perspectives. I seek the most immersion possible in comparative holistic approaches, especially concerning the complementary character of Eastern and Western contributions to philosophy and later psychology. My long-term professional goal is to design a new model to develop and operate a program addressing the mind, body, and spirit of children and adolescents who have been abused. I look forward to becoming a Psychotherapist and an LCSW in private practice, leading therapy groups for women and children, and exploring the power of meditation and positive thinking. Like my mother, I too was thrown out of the house at an early age; and like both parents, I was raised against a backdrop of domestic violence, emotional abuse, alcoholism, and poverty. Unlike my mother and father, who were both prone to addiction and learned to cope by getting loud, angry, and often violent, I managed by internalizing anger --becoming depressed, silent, withdrawn, and feeling inadequate. However, I understand how being angry and violent gave my parents a brief escape from disempowering circumstances. Most importantly, I have forgiven them. I have become healed to the point that I take pride in being an empath, and listening is my favorite pass time. I thrive best when I am busy noticing, processing, and synthesizing micro-expressions and the energetic vibrations of mood swings. I have served in a variety of positions and see them all as contributing something to my career in Social Work, teaching me something of value. Occupational therapist assistant, teacher, literacy tutor, and domestic violence counselor; I have also volunteered as a parenting co-facilitator. If the grades from my twenties weren’t factored in, I would be graduating magna cum laude. From my first sociology class to the most recent abnormal psychology course, I knew I had made the right decision by returning to school to become an MSW professional. I began my first internship in my undergraduate program by attending the LCSW and Psy.D. group supervision meetings. My supervisor Dr. XXXX soon offered me an opportunity to co-facilitate a parenting and a domestic violence group. I quickly found myself planning lessons as my co-facilitator, Dr. XXXX, allowed me to take the reins. I tracked down resources within the community and brought in evidence-based material for the DV group. We discussed cycles of abuse, and I introduced Carol Dweck’s concept of Growth Mindset and other issues in neuroplasticity to the parenting group. I also shared information that I had gleaned from my university classes. I brought in enough supplemental material and resources from various sources to create a new and revised DV and a parenting workbook. I tutored K-12 and led meditation with each group that I taught. I also attended group supervision meetings and co-facilitating groups. Far exceeding CSUNs required number of internship hours, I continued to work during winter and summer breaks and stayed with the agency for over 1.5 years. I’ve also represented clients at the group/community level by participating in monthly San Fernando Gang Coalition Meetings. This event provides a platform for several organizations, including LA Police divisions, the city attorney, DA, LAUSD, and non-profit organizations, to collaborate and address important critical issues within the community. Several. organizations, including LA Police divisions, the city attorney, DA, LAUSD, and non-profit organizations, to collaborate and address the aftermath of a series of ICE raids. I spoke with Captain Don Graham about how undocumented immigrants are protected under the Bill of Rights, clarifying whether the LAPD collaborates on ICE raids. Experiencing prejudice and racism firsthand contributes to my ability to help others. There was a time when I never even thought about why I was passed over for so many jobs or promotions; now I understand. I am empathetic to those people who are discriminated against, and all too often victimized, at least to some extent, based on their skin and immigration status. I have character traits that will help me become an effective therapist because I have overcome the horror of my childhood. I would wake up hearing Mom and Dad threaten to shoot each other in the middle of the night. Dad would drag me to chase Mom down with his truck, a shotgun resting next to me on the passenger side. He was very jealous when she would go out to nightclubs with her friends. As if this were not enough, I witnessed my younger brother run over by a car when he was only two years old, riding a big wheel. My dad and I wrapped him in a towel and rushed him to the hospital. When I was seventeen, my foot was nearly amputated from a jet ski and boating accident. I’m thankful for the nine titanium pins holding my foot together and the surgeon who yielded to my mother’s pleas not to amputate. Given the ferocity of the demons they faced, my parents did their best . After they were divorced, my mother did better, and I supported her by helping her to take care of my little brother, getting him ready for school in the mornings, making sure he was dressed on time, preparing his breakfast and his lunch, taking him to school, and bringing him home. My mother was incredibly young, and we all grew up together at times. I was her principal moral support when she went through her divorce. Later, I helped her with her insecurities about speaking up in front of her co-workers in meetings. We talked about everything while cooking and cleaning, her childhood, marriage, and co-worker relationships. I feel that all my life experiences have primed me to become a therapist. My relationship with my mom shaped the character of relationships I would go on to have with friends. The addiction issues of my parents and my dedication to becoming a Social Work professional dictate that I be open to extending a helping hand on a personal and professional level to the extent to which I can. I have learned much about addiction from my friend Holly, who lost her sister to opioids. I was part of an intervention to get her to go to rehab. Now that she’s out, I check on her regularly, which I see as especially important because the rest of her friends seem to have disappeared. We discuss the origins of her addiction, such as feeling the need always to be the strong one in her family , and we get some comedy relief that helps us vent our emotions. Earning the MSW will provide me with the skill set that I need to effectively contribute to resolving social issues surrounding the welfare of children and adolescents on multiple levels, especially concerning early-life interventions. I understand how parents with otherwise good intentions repeat patterns of abuse and suffering. This motivates me to help at-risk youth by collaborating with caregivers to improve family self-efficacy. We know about resources to help facilitate social-emotional skills and development at school. I am proud of how we work to raise awareness within the community about the prevalence and impact of trauma and the available help. My areas of interest include the biopsychosocial impact of immigration on children and adolescents. My dream is to design a program for children to learn to better handle and recover from stressful situations, shame, anxiety, and problems of imagery that derive from social and economic class, especially for undocumented migrants. I want to look closely at the brain's neuroplasticity and protective factors for children against post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, shame, resilience, and vulnerability, primarily by studying individual cases of children being separated from their parents. I’ve also taken workshops and classes from pioneers in Social Work and Psychology, completing Dr. Brené Brown’s Courage Works course and various Conscious Parenting courses by Dr. Shefali Tabery. I plan to become certified in holistic nutrition and neuro-linguistic programming. I serve as a Group Facilitator at the Association of Behavioral Health Specialists. I have done food prep and delivery of hot meals to homeless people downtown with the LA Mission and served as a literacy tutor through the Burbank Public Library. Another highlight many years ago that helped me better appreciate the importance of patience and the beauty and resilience of life was my service as an Occupational Therapist Assistant at Henry Mayo Hospital in Santa Clarita. I thank you for considering my application to the MSW Program at XXXX. MSW Statement of Purpose Editor

  • MA International Relations, IR Statement of Purpose

My academic background is in Finance, and I now hope to broaden my horizons by studying for the MA Degree in International Relations and World History ; by participating in XXXX University’s International Studies Program in China. Nottingham University in China is close to my home, and I feel most fortunate to live in this location, close to such a vital resource. As I have continued to advance as a business and finance professional, I have increasingly realized how international relations have influenced Finance. Finance has stood at the center of my professional world for some time. This is why I majored in this area and earned my undergraduate degree in Financial Engineering in 2015. I am currently working towards completing my master's degree in finance at Xiamen University and will finish this year, 2019. As a software engineer, I also serve as my company's interpreter and translator. This expands my interests in History, and International Relations is a natural academic choice given my interests and professional function. While engaging with Michelin, I took the time to learn about the historical relations between China and France. This helped me understand Michelin’s business strategies vis-à-vis China. Much more so than in France, however, I consider myself a lifelong student of Japan. I hope to earn a doctoral degree in Japan to further my career after completing the MA Program at XXXX. I already speak and read basic Japanese, and I look forward to improving my Japanese as a student at XXXX and beyond. My long-term professional goal is to help young people from Japan and China draw closer by studying each other’s languages, improving relations between the two countries, overcoming the tensions of the past, and making progress toward common Asian goals. Historical relations between China and Japan have gone through tumultuous periods in recent history, especially during the Second World War. The most notable chapter of these events is the brutal conquest of Nanjing by Japanese forces and the subsequent massacre of civilians and military forces alike. Nanjing's historical significance is one reason I visited the city and spent considerable time there as a university student. Since childhood, I have been deeply influenced by Japanese culture, and I share this with several family members. My favorite composer is Japanese (Yuki Kajiura) as well as conductor (Tomomi Nishimoto) and writer (Keigo Higashi no). My favorite popular music group is also Japanese (akb48). As I progress in the Japanese Language at Nottingham, I will also learn all I can learn about Japanese history, especially relations with China. I have been to Japan and keenly look forward to returning. My cousin, with whom I am close, is currently studying at one of Tokyo’s finest universities. Since April 2018, I have worked with the XXXX College of Health Sciences in the Office of Asset Management. I accepted this professional position in addition to my post as a software engineer and interpreter/translator for the Shanghai Quwain Information Technology Co., Ltd., where I have been since October 2015, developing an extensive relationship with Michelin in particular. I have learned many valuable things in both positions that will help me excel in your program at Nottingham and beyond, giving my all to the development of China in every sense of the word, culturally and economically. I graduated from the best university in China and have an advanced understanding of economics and global trade that will propel me to excellence at XXXX. I earned a percentage of 97% on the TOEFL six years ago and lived in the USA for eight months, during which time I began working for Quwain long-distance. Later, I returned to work in the Shanghai office. After completing your program at Nottingham, I hope to study extensively in Japan and then return to China to work in an International Office of a University where I can better help Chinese students to go abroad and facilitate international students coming to China. Thank you for considering my application to XXXX University’s International Studies Program. MA International Relations, IR Statement of Purpose

I hope to be accepted to the MSc Program in Socio-behavioral Sciences at XXXX University. XXXX is my first choice for graduate school because of the sheer excellence of the program, the location, and the opportunity to focus on my interests, Public Health and the Science of Human Behavior . I hope to prepare myself for a lifetime of service as an advocate for the vulnerable, especially the elderly. I look forward to the continuing lifetime development of expertise in aging and the impact that an aging population has on public health. Now a permanent resident of Canada, my particular focus as an investigator will involve comparing my native China and North America, Canada in particular. I feel a unique sense of urgency in my work that arises from the fact that China now faces critical issues related to its rapidly aging population. I look forward to distinguishing myself as a dedicated and highly influential geriatrician, and I hope to become licensed to practice in Canada. I hope to become involved with and devote a great deal of time to a senior research center, exploring best care models for the elderly and laboring to advance public health education efforts geared towards the well-being of the elderly. Helping the sick and weak has always been central to forming my personal and professional identity. I graduated from the most competitive medical school in China and go on to excel as a resident physician practicing medicine at some of China’s finest hospitals. Soon, however, I realized that I want to “make a difference” rather than merely “make a living,” and I am convinced that earning the MPH Degree is now the next step in the right direction. In my last year of medical school, I joined the “Public Health Education Initiative for Chinese Medical Students” - a student association focused on developing courses on public health. In 2010, when Beijing first banned smoking indoors in all public areas, I hosted a series of lectures on smoking control which received positive feedback. After graduation, I spent two years seeing patients, many of whom came from other provinces thousands of miles away from where they could not receive adequate treatment. Many, if not most were very critically ill, and there was simply little that we could do for them - it was already too late—this further drove my interest in Public Health. I moved to Singapore for a residency in Geriatrics in 2016. I learned how measurement could prevent the elderly from falling and how to best collaborate with community clinics, nursing homes, and interim care services to deliver continuous care. I want to contribute to the well-being of large numbers of people and advance the causes of public health and preventive medicine in general and in my local community. Thank you for considering my application to XXXX University. MSc Public Health Personal Purpose Statement Editing Service
