Business Administration at XXXX University (XXU) has everything I am looking for in an MBA program, especially a thorough treatment of healthcare as an integral part of the curriculum. I have what the university is looking for in an incoming graduate student, am well prepared to embark upon a rigorous program of study. I am highly motivated with career goals that are a good match for what the university offers. I am finishing my BS in Biological Sciences in preparation for a healthcare career at XXU, and I could not be happier and more comfortable with my academic community. It is at FAU where I could best excel as a graduate student.
I entered college thinking of a healthcare career, unsure of what area I wanted to pursue. My Minor in Health Administration helped me better understand the direction of my professional calling and the contribution I want to make. By my third year of studies, I had fallen in love with everything about administration, which I attribute to having been gifted with a tidy, well-managed mind coupled with diligent research related to healthcare.
I was frankly quite shocked by the level of passion that I found myself developing quite rapidly for health care administration. I had not expected to see a calling in which I felt so fulfilled, with a growing sense of mission, further fortifying my confidence and capacity. What I find most exciting about becoming a healthcare administration professional is the idea of making regular and significant contributions to healthcare on a systemic level instead of working one-on-one with patients as I would in another area. Having grown up in the world of machine learning, I think in terms of systems, and it is also on this level, as an administrator and communicator, that I seek to make effective use of the expertise in communication and medical technology that I have developed over the last several years. At the same time, I also crave hands-on contact with patients, getting to know them to understand them better.
My volunteer experience at Splash Pals further confirmed my passion for leadership and administrative roles in healthcare. As a devoted member of the team for the past two years, I have not only been at the forefront of working with children with developmental disabilities but also interned with this organization as an administrator and outreach coordinator. While I admit that sometimes studying for my classes felt like challenging work, Splash Pals has been a sheer joy; the children, swimming, playing, teaching, and learning – a total immersion experience for all parties involved, most of all me.
Working as Dr. XXXX’s research assistant at XXU’s Simulation Center was a particular highlight of my undergraduate period. My primary responsibility was collecting data and comparing results in various simulated programs; this experience will help me excel in the research that awaits me in the MBA Program.
I am currently working with Reed Edelman, OD, in his optometric clinic, I am in my senior year at XXXX University; I also serve as a supplemental instructor of Genetics. Operating in a clinical setting and working as a facility administrator has helped me better understand a patient-centered environment's administrative nuts and bolts.
Central to my ambition to serve in leadership roles in the future is the fact that America in general, and American healthcare systems in particular, have seen a great deal of diversification in the professional labor force, with more and more faces of color among doctors, nurses, and across the board, reflecting the way that America has become such a diverse place over the last few decades. My parents are from India, and I am a native speaker of two Indian languages and English. Furthermore, long in love with Southeast Asia, I decided three years ago to adopt a country in that region to make it my own, visiting with frequency in the future, perhaps while I also see our native India. While I have not yet had the opportunity to visit Seoul, I keenly look forward to doing so frequently in the future, especially since I now have the essential communicative ability in Korean. This helps me contribute to appreciating diversity in the American healthcare system.
Thank you for considering my application.
