I was born, raised, and educated in Nigeria before immigrating to Canada four years ago. I was employed as an asset manager in Nigeria, and it is in this area that I have continued to advance my career here in Canada. I am thrilled to have become a permanent resident of Canada and contribute to the advancement of Canada’s economy and society by working as a Financial Advisor with the Royal Bank of Calgary since 2018. Before that, I spent two years as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones Investment in Calgary.
I hope to continue advancing my
professional contribution to Canada and society by earning a master's degree in public policy at XXXX University. In this way, I will be able to assume progressively higher levels of responsibility in the corporate environment that I serve, learning to think creatively about opportunities for further advancement for myself and my company. The master's degree Program in Public Policy at the University of XXXX is my first choice for graduate school since I am the best fit for your program and I will be able to give my maximum effort to graduate school as a student at the University of XXXX. I have given my all to this central professional goal of earning a master's degree in my chosen field to give something positive back to humanity and make my contribution as sustainable as possible. It would be a special honor to work in a public relations capacity with the national government of Canada or a government position at a more local level. I hope to engage professionally in the future with Africa and relations between Canada and the Developing World as a whole, especially Nigeria.
I finished my undergraduate studies in Nigeria in Chemical Engineering due to my concern for the environment and climate change. I then earned my MBA in Nigeria in 2010, focusing my organization on Finance & Marketing.
With the master's degree that I hope to earn in North America, I look forward to more fully devoting my time to climate change issues and helping Canada in i role as a world leader in developing progressive policy in the face of this global emergency. Nothing would please me as much as being able to help Canada exercise this leadership role vis-à-vis less developed regions of the world. I seek a total immersion experience at the University of XXXX in Public Policy and Social Governance, particularly considetsring the urgency of combating climate change. I also hope to see Canada expand its role as a world leader in viable alternatives to fossil fuels, innovations in clean energy and technologies, as well as good governance leading to the formation and adoption of policies that will better the lives of generations in Canada and worldwide.
While living and working in Canada, I also look forward to volunteer activities focusing on Africa and Nigeria. I am concerned about how far Africa lags the rest of the world regarding responsible governance, anti-corruption measures, and the realization of human potential. As a Nigerian who has now lived in Canada for several years, I continue to be amazed by the gulf that exists between Canada and Africa in terms of development in every category, especially human organization and transparency, areas in which I hope to learn a great deal as a graduate student.
