To Whom It May Concern,
My name is XXXX, and I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of XXXX for acceptance to dental school. I am a dentist initially from Vietnam, where I went to dental school with XXXX’s mother at the Ho Chi Minh School of Dentistry. Since then, we have remained close, mainly because we both immigrated to the USA, where we now practice dentistry. It has been a privilege to watch XXXX mature into adulthood as an outstanding student most dedicated to her studies, with enormous potential for contributing to her chosen career. I am delighted to see that XXXX has chosen dentistry as her profession, following in the footsteps of her mother, and I am convinced that she will not only excel but distinguish herself in the future as a very hard-working dentist with enormous compassion for her patients and dedication to the advancement of her profession.
Her mother immigrated to the USA, where we earned our DDS Degree and now practice dentistry. I earned my degree at Loma Linda University and established my practice in San Diego, California, several years ago. I have an excellent footing for giving XXXX the best recommendation that I can because she shadowed me in my dental practice for 125 hours, from December 2018 through July 2019, 5 hours each Saturday - 10 am to 3 pm. It was immediately apparent to me by the end of the first hour that XXXX assisted me in my clinic that her mother is a dentist; as if it were in her blood, how rapidly she picked up everything around her.
I was thoroughly amazed at her performance, and the rapidity with which she grasped the day-to-day functions of a dental clinic, and even mastered some of them by the time she left. I have never seen anyone learn anything with such rapidity due to her focus, drive, dedication, and innate abilities. I think her great passion for dentistry is her calling, her inheritance, and the continuation of a beautiful family tradition passed down from mother to daughter in this great country, a land of opportunity for so many. The three of us all daydream about returning to Vietnam at some point in the future to contribute to the advancement of dentistry for the underserved in our land of origin. Thank you for considering XXXX’s application. Her progress is a profound honor for all of us, and I would be most pleased to be able to provide you with any further information.
Sincerely,
LOR, Letter of Recommendation for International Dentist
