  • PHD Public Policy and Administration, Multicultural Indian

Ph.D. Public Policy and Administration Personal Statement of Purpose I profoundly hope to be selected for the University of ____’s Ph.D. Program in Public Policy and Administration. I am the best fit for the humanitarian approach and commitment to excellence at the University of Delaware. I aspire to enhance my research skill set in your doctoral program, developing a focus on the Indian and Asian American communities. My correspondence with Associate Professor Sarah K. Bruch has been most positive and reassuring. I am also most attracted to the State of ____, where I already have a network among Indians, both family and friends, some of whom attend the University of Delaware and recommend it highly. Born to a Muslim father and a Hindu mother, I have always been familiar with the concept of the ‘other’. I was taught compassion and respect for all religions, castes, ethnicities, etc. We spoke English, Hindi, and Urdu at home. My maternal grandparents told us about Hindu Gods and mythology, and my father interested me in Urdu poetry, music etc. Our home was a melting pot of cultures, and I was grateful for the vibrance and diversity that characterized my surroundings. Our multicultural household also raised eyebrows, however, and our relatives told my sister and me that we would never find good boys to marry since our parents belonged to different religious and cultural traditions. Finding a husband was not among my interests, however, and not doing Namas five times a day or going to a temple first thing in the morning - as did most of my friends, enabled me to devote more time to my studies and personal interests. Ph.D. Public Policy and Administration Personal Statement of Purpose Examples My family emphasized the importance of education, and I took pride in doing well in school, then completing my undergraduate studies in Journalism, and going on to work as a reporter for India’s biggest national dailies: The Times of India and The Hindustan Times. My experience of being labeled as ‘other’ made me passionate about working with people who are also atypical in some way, making it difficult to adjust to the broader Indian society and its rigid norms. It is appalling how they are so often treated in India simply because they are not the cream of the crop. I helped a few people complete their school education, and, later, made it a point to hire members of minority groups for professional and personal projects who were struggling to keep their art alive. Working to create opportunities for the disadvantaged to lead dignified lives has become the focal point of my career. Ph.D. Public Policy and Administration Personal Statement of Purpose Editor In May 2020, I completed my master's Program in Professional Communication at the University of San Francisco. I returned to India and have worked professionally as a journalist and a communications specialist for over 15 years. During this time, both as a professional and a volunteer, I have worked with religious and gender minorities, helping them to develop professional skill sets, integrate better into their religious and cultural communities, and gain confidence in their ability to thrive, even in adverse environments. In San Francisco, I immensely enjoyed working with a political communications firm, PJ Johnston Communications. As an associate, I worked closely with Mayor London Breed’s office and other governmental agencies on several projects related to affordable housing, public safety, etc. I also reviewed and analyzed policies of private establishments and NPOs concerning cultural questions associated with affordable housing and mixed land use, helping to pave the way for community development. I have been most struck by the fact that people have simply assumed for years that, being an Indian and working in Silicon Valley, my career ambition would be to find employment with a big IT company. Now, I fully recognize this as a destructive or potentially limiting stereotype. Many people that I have gotten to know over the years have looked at me in shock when I tell them that my long-term dreams are to work for government agencies and/or NPOs. Shattering the stereotype and carving my path has helped me to appreciate the importance of recognizing and questioning stereotypes wherever they exist. Now, I better understand the expectations surrounding me as I have explored concepts such as the Model Minority Myth – and the consequences it has had on the shape and flavor of American culture and political trends. As a Ph.D. student of Public Policy and Administration, I hope to focus much of my efforts on the impact of comparative politics along with governance and administration studying the implementation and impact of policies based on beliefs or assumptions about race in the context of employment opportunities, family and community relationships, and interracial personal and professional relationships. By 2019, there were about 2.7 million Indian immigrants residing in the United States. Today, Indian immigrants account for approximately 6 percent of the U.S. foreign-born population, making them the second-largest immigrant group in the country. From 1980 to 2019, this population increased 13-fold. As an Indian, I want to focus on this vast and growing group of immigrants that have an ever larger say in the political arena, especially now that there are 4 million Indians when counting those who were born in the USA. The most specific comparison I have in mind studying would be newly migrated IT professionals living and working on the West coast, compared to American-born second/third-generation Indian Americans living on the East coast. I want to focus on qualitative analysis, and I believe that the best results will be obtained by talking to the community. I thank you for considering my application to the University of ____. PHD Public Policy and Administration, Multicultural

  • MA Psychology Personal Statement, Counseling, Mental Health, Taiwanese

MA Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health Personal Statement of Purpose Writing I hope to be given the opportunity at ____ University to learn all I can about Psychology in your master's program and to harness my 15 years of experience in the tech industry to the service of the advancement of Psychology, Counseling, and Mental Health Services. Earning my MBA and working in the business world will help me excel in Psychology, especially given that I have become adept at communication technology. My extensive independent study of the use of apps in support of mental health services has convinced me that I am on the correct path, making a career change from business to mental health will bring me extraordinary joy and the satisfaction that comes with service. __U is my first choice because I see it as the vanguard in using internet technology to advance humanistic projects. I want to become a participant in progressive social change, and I look forward to a lifetime of collaboration with women and immigrants, the groups on which I plan to focus the bulk of my attention as a graduate student and beyond, especially single immigrant mothers with children. I want to help them fully adjust to and make the most out of America, building secure and prosperous lives for their young ones. I have been most impressed with the development of the app Headspace, and I see __U as the ideal program to guide me in the direction of developing a similar type of app that would support immigrant mothers with the many challenges that they face. __U is my first choice because I thrive on the celebration of diversity and consider myself to be a global citizen, always at my best when surrounded by people from highly diverse backgrounds, A Taiwanese woman and myself a mother and an immigrant, my cultivation of diversity appreciation has helped me to become more empathetic, compassionate, and open-minded. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, we moved to the SF Bay Area when I was 11. I speak Taiwanese, Mandarin, and English, along with a bit of Dutch that I have learned from my Dutch husband, with whom I am raising a multilingual child. I am also a breast cancer survivor, which has inspired my career shift from business to Psychology, as I want to devote my energy now to the caring professions. MA Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health Personal Statement of Purpose Sample As a first-generation immigrant from Taiwan, I understand the challenges and obstacles that immigrants coming to America face. Even though I have spent several decades in the States, I still find myself caught in a crossfire between the traditional Asian values my parents instilled in me and how my American education and surroundings have also shaped me - I find this most fascinating. Growing up in Taiwan, I was diagnosed with an eating disorder in my teenage years that first exposed me to the incredible power and value of counseling. It was then that I first learned about the benefits of introspection, reflection, and self-awareness, and I came to a better understanding of the interconnectedness between my emotional and physical activity on the one hand and my thoughts and beliefs on the other. I want to help women who battle body image and self-esteem issues, in addition to the challenges of accessing health care, often exacerbated today by public health and lifestyle issues. Hence, I dream of eventually establishing a private practice focusing on immigrant women and their multicultural and multilingual children. MA Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health Personal Statement of Purpose Editing I hold a bachelor's degree in economics from UC Berkeley and an MBA from the University of Southern California. I have also completed one semester of a doctorate-level program in Clinical Psychology, earning all grades of ‘A.’ I now could not feel more confident that I am ready to hit the ground running at __U and distinguish myself as an excellent student from day 1. My interests have always revolved around people and their experiences. It fascinates me to understand how our experiences shape us as individuals and how such understanding can help us improve our destinies. As a breast cancer survivor, I want to help other survivors to benefit from counseling as I have. The mental and physical ordeal that this disease puts people through can be soul-crushing, and I feel called to help, especially since one in eight women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. I want to help them pave the way for a better tomorrow. My husband and I also faced fertility challenges due to my battle with cancer. Hence, I seek to redeem my investment in this struggle by helping other women survive the ordeal and rebuild their lives, especially regarding motherhood. Immigrant mothers will always be my central focus, first and second-generation immigrant women who deal with cultural/linguistic hurdles and challenges /obstacles here in America. I anticipate making beneficial use of my Mandarin as a counselor and, to a lesser extent, my Taiwanese, along with English. In addition to Taiwan and the US, I have traveled throughout most of Europe and Asia. As an animal lover, I have volunteered at SPCA for four years. I am also a certified big sister at the local BBBS program. I’m not afraid to challenge the way things are done or the status quo, and I am a naturally curious woman. I now want to give my all to Psychology at NYU, and I have worked hard to achieve my current financial success so that I can afford to do so. Helping immigrant mothers optimize their security and happiness is my main passion. It would be my greatest honor to be accepted to study to become a mental health counselor at NYU. Thank you for considering my application. MA Psychology Personal Statement

  • Diversity Statement for Graduate School, Iranian

Diversity Statement for Graduate School Examples, Professional Writing and Editing Service I see inclusion and equity as the central principles that guide discussions of diversity and equal opportunity as the bedrock of a flourishing and prosperous society. This is especially important concerning higher education in STEM disciplines, where members of America’s ethnic minorities tend to be underrepresented. However, I am pleased that at least some progress is being made. Women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ community continue to be discriminated against in America, however. Still, there has been increasing pushback, resulting in culture wars in which I am invariably on the side of the progressives. As a Middle Eastern community member, I have been on the receiving end of racial hatred on various occasions. I was living in downtown Minneapolis, MN, when the police murdered George Floyd in May of 2020, and I still remember how traumatized I was when I saw the news plastered across all news channels and social media. Initially, I felt disinclined to participate in any of the protests. I had seen several stores on our street set on fire and was frightened. But a friend who participated in peaceful protests from day 1 convinced me that keeping silent about the issue would make me guilty too. On the third day, at least at first, I hit the street with placards and a resilient spirit. As a brown Middle-Easterner, I saw myself on the side of primarily back people, who, from my experience in the George Floyd Protests, were non-violent protesters. On each occasion I joined, however, a group of young white males always wanted to break windows and destroy things, setting fires, which troubled me. Worst of all, I witnessed how the violence was blamed on Black people. At once discriminated against, yet also privileged in some ways, I felt confused as well as angry throughout this period. Diversity Statement for Graduate School Samples, Successful Editing and Writing Service As a woman, I am concerned that the level of participation of women in STEM is low, especially in engineering, and this is true worldwide. I have been privileged over other women I grew up with in the Middle East. I will never forget how hard it was for my sister to get into college in Iran and pursue higher education. She always complained about feeling isolated and excluded in the dominantly male program. Increasingly, I am aware of how gender inequalities affect women’s ability to excel in their careers and the deeply misogynistic and patriarchal character of societies pervasive throughout the Middle East- additional work and fiery trials are imposed upon the ‘weaker sex,’ for her to prove herself sufficiently. I have been heartened to see the participation of the LGBTQ community in the larger society growing over the past several years, exemplified by Mayor Pete’s strong showing in the last presidential election. I had a friend in college during my undergraduate studies in Iran who was gay person. All of us were unaware of his sexual orientation until he showed up to a private gathering with his partner. Unfortunately, word got out to the rigid religious administration of the college, and he was expelled without a clear explanation. The situation was devastating not only for him but for everyone else who saw how his life had crumbled so quickly. We protested a few times but were threatened that we would be signing up for the same fate if the protests didn’t stop. No democracy, no dissent, no freedom of speech. My friend immigrated to a college in the US shortly after the incident, but the devastation associated with this kind of blanket discrimination is still etched in my mind. Diversity Statement for Graduate School Example, Professional Writing Help Myself an ardent supporter of equality for all and inclusivity, I also look forward to seeing women and LGBTQ people more fully represented in STEM. I have been a postdoctoral associate at Cornell University for 18 months. We have frequently received student requests to join our group for research experience or credits. The lab PI authorized me to interview and select the students who joined our group. While focusing on merits, I gave special attention to applicants from underserved groups. During this period, I guided seventeen students from high school to graduate school in performing research: eight women, two African Americans, and one Hispanic. I keenly look forward to decades to come encouraging and mentoring investigators in higher education from underrepresented groups, hopefully as a postdoctoral fellow or faculty member. • BA through MSW Social Work Program, Chinese, Child Abuse

BA through MSW, Program Personal Purpose Statement Editor, Chinese Applicant Working as a social worker for the past 16 years has convinced me that I want to continue in this field. I hope to attain a BA and then an MSW in Social Work. As a profoundly abused child, by the time I became an adolescent, I dreamed of becoming a social worker who could help other children, saving them from horrific situations, helping them to recover, and providing the assistance that came too little and too late for myself, coming full circle, arriving home. At first, I had felt that such a career was beyond my grasp because of my lack of self-esteem that accompanied the psychological and exceedingly physical abuse to which I was subjected. As I matured, however, I realized that my unique background afforded me life experience that others did not have. I chose to become a foster parent in 1990. My heart was filled with so much love caring for this abused and neglected child and providing her with love. My experience as a foster parent has motivated me to work with other abused and neglected children. BA through MSW, Program, Chinese Applicant Personal Statement of Purpose Examples I passionately believe that the combination of love, understanding, and being inspired to self-motivation is the central key to overcoming obstacles and living a healthy and happy life rather than continuing to suffer as an adult because of the traumas of childhood. I’ve always struggled mightily to help my children to be flexible and adaptable, and develop their skills, motivation, and willpower to seek their goals, keep dreaming, and find the strength within themselves to accept success in their life, inner dignity, and strength to love themselves and open themselves up to authentic love for those around them. For many years now, as a professional and mother, I have used my cultivation of high degrees of motivation and energy to make a difference in the lives of foster children. And I have been profoundly rewarded as far as I have had the enormous privilege of making profound changes in these children’s lives for the better. By 1998, I had adopted four foster children, providing them all with a safe and stable place to call home, with profound, unconditional love, seeing to their education, helping them to build self-esteem and to love themselves, their new brothers and sisters, and people in general, to respect older people and to appreciate and make the most of their educational opportunities. My first adopted daughter, now in her second year of college, would often tell me that with all my life experiences, my next ambition would be to become a professional social worker. She has been one of my inspirations and motivations for returning to school to pursue my bachelor's degree in social work and then the MSW. I am now finishing my associate degree in Sociology. She has always told me that my heart has so much room and what a tremendous foster/adoptive mother I have been for her; thus, she has inspired me to put my dream into action. I ask to be accepted to your program so that I can give my all to working hard to help needy children to acquire a foundation for making their own dreams a reality, making a positive difference in all the lives that I touch. The most significant contribution I could make to society would be to become a professional social worker with neglected and abused children and their families. BA through MSW, Program Personal Statement Help, Chinese Applicant Although I feel proud of my success as a foster parent and with the adoption process, I have realized that I am not living up to my potential. At this point, having a degree in social work would allow me to work towards a license and expand my understanding of what I already know. After working with neglected children and social services for sixteen years without a social work degree, going back to school to study social work will complement my life experiences. It will build upon what I have learned studying sociology. My mother was seventeen, and my father was fifty. He said my mother began drinking shortly after my sister was born, so it was not a happy time when they found out she was pregnant with me. She was already four months along when my father insisted, she use a hanger to abort the fetus. They tried but with no success. In September 1955, I was born against their will. According to my father, neither he nor my mother wanted me, so when she gave birth, she abandoned me at the hospital, and I was taken into foster care until I was four years old. During this time, my father, who is Chinese, moved to San Francisco, California, to open a laundry business. Social Service stayed in touch with my father and gave him several options. He was ordered to start paying child support to keep me in foster care, or he could raise me himself. Not wishing to pay for my care, he made the latter decision. One of my first memories is stepping foot in the door and seeing my father with such rage in his eyes. I asked him, “who are you?” I endured intense verbal and physical abuse from my father for the next six years. Daily, my father would tell me that I was unwanted from conception. He would repeatedly say that I would not amount to anything. He would beat me daily with different techniques of torture. I had to stand next to his ironing table for hours, and every so often, he would hit me with a stick on each side of my head until it was swollen, broke open, and bled, and he would then dab iodine on it and watch me squirm as it burned. He would put my hands in boiling water while he and my sister would laugh at the blisters it created. One of his more painful torture methods was pulling my fingernails out with pliers individually, then dousing them with alcohol. After six years, not one part of my body escaped his physical abuse. After many years of this, my elementary school finally intervened and contacted Social Services, and they determined that my father had been abusing me. I was removed from my father’s care. After six months, however, I returned to my father's home. Some social workers considered me Caucasian and others Chinese, making placing me in an appropriate home difficult. Then the abuse escalated since my father thought I had lied to him and got him in trouble. Social Services came for a visit only to see that I had bruises all over my body. They removed me again and placed me in Juvenile Hall for several months, and then, finally, I was placed into foster care. At thirteen, I ran away and lived on the streets of San Francisco’s Chinatown for several months. The police picked me up late and returned me to Juvenile Hall for another nine months. I was shuffled through the system, becoming a ward of the court, and then placed in a group home. During each transition, I felt perplexed by the confusing process, with each placement leaving me more socially isolated than the last one. I struggled to find explanations for things and make some sense of my past. At this time, I realized that my success would depend upon my ability to make independent decisions and trust my inner strength. And it was at this time that I began to dream of growing up and helping other girls who were in similar kinds of situations. As an older, non-traditional Chinese student, I look forward to utilizing my life experiences as content for papers and contributing to class discussions. Raised in San Francisco’s Chinatown, I want to return and use my multi-lingual and multi-cultural abilities to help the children of Chinese immigrants who have fallen through the cracks. I want to return to the streets where I grew up as a savior. I am bold and fearless, and my love for these children strengthens me. I want so very much to give the balance of my professional life to the children on the streets of Chinatown. Having discovered my tenacity, perseverance, and inner strengths, I look forward to arming myself with a degree from the University of ____ and enhancing my skills, knowledge, and credibility by attending one of the finest social work programs in the country. Thank you sincerely for considering my application. BA through MSW Social Work Program

  • DSW US Marine, Veterans' Issues, VA

In the years following my service in the US Marine Corps, several of my closest veteran friends committed suicide. I have had to wrestle with a persistent sense of guilt that I could not do anything to help them. A restauranteur by profession for 20 years, when my father, a Vietnam veteran who I was always very close to, died in 20??, I entered a period of profound reflection and began seeking a path and career where I could help people like my dad and my old friends from the Marine Corps who blew their brains out, all plagued by alcoholism and PTSD. My father’s life after returning from Vietnam was short and brutal, struck down by cancer resulting from Agent Orange. I was angered by the abysmal level of attention that my father received within the VA system – as an American, a Marine, and a son - and it bothers me to this day. Soon, I became highly motivated to advocate for other veterans needing our support and care. DSW, US Marine, Veterans' Issues, VA, Military By 20?? I was a volunteer, helping veterans to navigate the paperwork for filing for VA disability and educating them on their rights as veterans. Helping veterans became the purpose and vocation that I had longed for, my cause. After visiting my local VA and talking with social workers there, it became clear that Social Work was the path I was meant to take. I sold my restaurant and enrolled in a bachelor's level social work program. This was a gamble with lots of obstacles to overcome. I knew from the beginning, however, that I could achieve my goals in Social Work because of my intense passion for helping veterans. After earning my BSW (20??) and MSW (20??) and becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I entered the workforce in the mental health field, serving as a substance abuse therapist for active-duty military personnel. At the same time, I was working part-time at night as a mobile crisis clinician with the county, doing risk-of-harm assessments, and my manager was working on her DSW. She taught me the difference between a Ph.D. and DSW in Social Work. It soon became clear that my desire to help veterans called for the DSW Degree. I want very much to study towards and earn the DSW Degree because I feel that I need further preparation to realize my most ambitious goals, such as managing a veteran’s organization, s managing a veteran’s organization, nor do I yet feel optimally prepared for a lifetime career focus on the mental health issues that tend to afflict veterans, in particular, so that I will be able to provide the level of mental health care that I believe that veterans deserve. Ideally, I would like to become a manager within the VA system, and for this, the DSW would be especially helpful. As I gradually acquired experience as a substance abuse social worker doing risk-of-harm assessments, I began to see a pattern of self-destructive behavior that was especially notable in the veteran community, which needed to be addressed through therapy. At the same time, reading widely about self-harm in the literature, I became increasingly enthused about the potential for both group and individual therapy to bring about healing and some level of closure that would allow veterans to live healthy and productive lives. DSW, US Marine, Veterans' Issues, VA, Military, Personal Statement Editor When I started on this quest to become a social worker, it was solely to help veterans like me to get through hardships that they’re facing. At the time, I was uncertain about how this would occur exactly, but I have long been convinced of the nobility of fighting for veterans’ rights, especially for the disabled. I focused on education as the key to implementing programs, addressing issues in the veteran community, and providing mental health and substance abuse treatment. I am now employed at my local North Texas VA. I was allowed to work with homeless veterans in the HUD/VASH program, helping them with shelter, mental health, addictions, and vocational rehabilitation. I find case management thrilling and intimately tied to becoming as successful as possible as a therapist. As suggested by the neurologist Daniel Levitin, however, ¨ten thousand hours of practice is required to achieve the level of mastery associated with being a world-class expert—in anything¨ (Levitin, Daniel, p. 40). This translates to ten years of dedication and study to arrive at my prime in the mental health field. I owe it to those I am serving to do everything I can to provide my clients with the best care possible. Only through constant reflection and vigorous study will I be able to have the positive impact that I hope to have on the lives of my clients, who deserve the best that America can provide. I am still debating between the military behavior health and the clinical social work tracks of the program. The truth is that I would like to do both, since these areas run perpendicular to each other within the VA, and both would help a great deal to foster my career advancement in serving this specific population. The VA offers many training programs and seminars addressing these two topics to help make us better clinicians. Coming from a military background and being raised in a military-driven household, I will follow the military behavioral health track, which would be most apt for addressing the needs of the veterans under my care. I have sought employment positions working with the most chronically challenging populations at behavioral health hospitals, jails, emergency rooms, and local law enforcement. My current job with the VA has me working with the chronically homeless, many of whom are exiting the correctional system and have dual diagnoses. I try to teach my children that falling forward is better than falling back in life. I’ve learned that one must strive for balance to operate at one’s optimal level. This entails four foundational pillars spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional. Incorporating this into my daily regimen gives me the discipline to push myself to success every day while keeping burnout at bay. An aspect of social work that I incorporate and preach to my patients is to have small measurable goals and not to focus on the result so as not to become overwhelmed. This same thought process is the approach I look forward to continuing to pursue in the DSW program. DSW, US Marine, Veterans' Issues, VA, Military Statement of Purpose Editing Service It can alienate one from other command members and harm one’s career. Often a loss of trust or dependability is reported and permanently stamped on one’s records. Hence, it is no surprise that most service members wait until they’re out of the military to seek help, often only to find VA mental health facilities seriously overburdened. A large-scale survey of ex-service personnel in the UK found that only approximately half of those with mental health problems had sought help; stigma and embarrassment were frequently cited barriers (Iversen). Many people who leave the military because of severe mental illness do not receive aftercare from the VA. The reasons for such low rates of contact are not clear. Identifying patients who need aftercare but do not receive it and ensuring they have access to needed services remains a significant challenge for the DoD and the VA (Mojtaba R, Rosenheck RA, Wyatt RJ, Susser ES.). The prevalence among active-duty military service members of 30-day DSM-IV psychiatric disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorders and major depressive disorder, is more significant than among socio-demographically matched civilians (Lazar SG). Many programs are trying to address this issue while the soldier is still on active duty. I want to create a type of boot camp before an active-duty service member is separated from the military, regardless of the discharge type. Most active-duty members face long deployments away from family, multiple combat rotations, a loss of personal freedom, fear of the unknown and inability to establish a stable living environment, chronic stress related to unrelenting standards, and professional consequences for falling short of one’s duties. Preexisting mental health issues often compound these stressors before the individual joins the military. As I see it, if the military grooms one for boot camp to fit their mold, they should be held responsible for deprogramming a soldier before separating back into civilian life. A six-week program could be established for soon-go-be-separated soldiers entailing psychoeducation, process groups, trauma therapy, addiction therapy, family therapy, yoga, meditation, nutrition, vocational training, and physical exercise to prepare them for reinsertion into civil society optimally. This would also give clinicians an excellent opportunity to assess service members so that they can be provided with the care they need, at that time and in the future. There is a significant gap between when the typical veteran leaves active duty and when they enter VA care. The VA often has no records, not even of the patient’s military experience. The VA and the military need to better coordinate their records, especially as concerns veterans with longtime mental health and other medical issues. Thank you for considering my application to the DSW Program at the University of XXXX. DSW, US Marine, Veterans' Issues, VA, Military Reference List 1. • Fellowship Cardiology, ICU, Filipino Doctor

Fellowship Cardiology, ICU Personal Statement Help, Professional Editing Service A young doctor from the Philippines, I became a US citizen in May 2011. I have been working in cardiac ICU and cardio-thoracic units in America for more than six years. My crowning achievement so far, however, of which I am immensely proud, is my publication (Date) in the Journal of the American Society of Hypertension: “Evening Dosing of Anti-Hypertensives to Reduce Cardiovascular Events: A Third Type of Evidence Based on Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Trials.” I am published here in America and hope to continue publishing in various areas related to Cardiology and distinguish myself as a very diligent researcher in our field. I hope that my application to your distinguished fellowship program will be looked upon with favor due to my clinical and research experience, as very strongly that I have a lot to give to the field of Cardiology. I am, most of all, an extremely hard worker who gives his profession his all. I love working long hours and following instructions, and I excel as part of a team, as I am constantly cheerful and always willing to go that extra mile. I adore performing procedures, and I work well even in stressful situations. I now have extensive first-hand experience in running a highly efficient cardiac ICU. I know what lies ahead of me will be sleepless nights, getting called for a critical patient who is deteriorating or urgently needs a procedure. However, I fully embrace my lifestyle and even find joy in waking up at 2 am for emergencies, still single and totally immersed in my work. The hospital is also my family. I enjoy saving lives and giving patients another chance to spend quality time with family. Fellowship Cardiology Personal Statement Writing and Editing Examples I hope to be selected for your program based on my long-term goals. I look forward to serving as an internist at an academic and teaching hospital and participating in the training of medical students and residents. After completing a General Cardiology Fellowship, I intend to pursue further training in Critical Care Cardiology, followed by Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology, the areas I plan to pursue as an investigator for the balance of my professional life. I also look forward in the future, as a long-term goal, to getting involved with medical missions to my home country, the Philippines, giving lectures, getting involved in educational projects, and giving something back to the land of my birth. I am determined to excel in cardiology, especially because my father became extremely ill with heart failure when I was only four months into my first residency training position. My father was found to have severe mitral regurgitation and non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, requiring urgent mitral valve replacement. Although his mitral valve surgery went well, he failed to recover his heart function even months after valve surgery, thus going on to require an implantable cardioverter and defibrillator (ICD). My father's heart disease has been a powerful motivation for my career journey. Fellowship Cardiology Personal Statement Service Among the special contributions I am privileged to make in my hospital is serving as an active member of the CHF Readmission Committee. By making sure patients admitted with congestive heart failure have 1. their meds before getting discharged, 2. an understanding of dietary restrictions, particularly salt restriction, 3. appropriate and timely out-patient follow-up with their primary physicians and cardiologists and 4. are aware of warning signs of heart failure recurrence with the proper phone number to call if they do develop warning signs after they get discharged. Our committee has helped us to achieve readmission rates at our hospital that are well below the national average. I find all of this to be enormously exciting, and it spurs me to want to continue to do heart failure research. I am currently working with my mentor in Coronary Flow Reserve (CFR) and Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) on patients with discordant myocardial perfusion imaging studies and coronary angiographic findings. We hope to understand better the role of microvascular dysfunction in patients with abnormal myocardial perfusion studies and functionally insignificant coronary artery stenoses (as evidenced by 50-70% stenoses in one of the epicardial coronary arteries or their major branches but normal FFR values). I seek balance in all things, indoor volleyball in the winter and lawn tennis in the summer, and an occasional escape to nature which I immensely enjoy photographing. Happy, successful, and well-adjusted, I find life a joyous experience that centers on the heart. It would be an honor to be accepted as a member of your team, and I thank you for considering my application to your program. Fellowship Cardiology, ICU, Filipino Doctor

  • Med-Peds Personal Statement, Saudi

Med-Peds Residency Personal Statement A residency assignment in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics (Med-Peds) is more than just a logical progression for my career. Med-Peds fits very well into my strengths, experiences, and education. Throughout medical school, I thoroughly enjoyed my time learning all that I could about Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Driving this is my love for children and my passion for preventative and in-patient medicine. I was first introduced to Internal Medicine whilst volunteering in Internal Medicine in the Emergency Room of a busy inner-city hospital during Hajj season, in KSA. Hajj is the largest annual pilgrimage in the world and is a time when our country sees thousands of pilgrims being flown in specifically for the purpose of reaching Mecca. Every year despite the many precautions taken, there are frequent accidents, but aside from this, many pilgrims are elderly, wanting to reach the fifth pillar of Islam before their time on earth is through. As a result, in the ER, I was fascinated by the sheer diversity of cases and the amount of direct patient contact. Med-Peds Residency Personal Statement Examples, Editing Service I loved working as a part of a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals. I was left knowing that academic medicine and inpatient medicine were where my heart truly lies. My six months of Pediatric residency in a busy hospital in Riyadh exposed me to an incredible array of cases. Pediatrics is a discipline in which I will be able to intervene and change behavior patterns, and health outcomes in a very preventative and proactive way, as opposed to trying to change someone's ingrained life pattern. This reflects my strong interest in Medical Genetics. During my residency, counseling mothers stirred my interest in genetics and fetal anomalies as a part of prenatal diagnosis. I was left feeling that I had a great deal to offer in terms of genetic counseling. Med Peds Personal Statement Writing and Editing Service I am aware of the commitment required by Med-Peds residents and anticipate working more than full-time to spend enough time on both sides. Challenges abound in both fields, but I look forward to working a block in a Pediatric ward and then admitting patients with an assortment of disease processes on the other side. Researching the Med-Peds field, I have been impressed repeatedly by the contributions Med-Peds physicians make to the community, representing the needs of both demographic groups. • Family Medicine Residency Personal Statement Editing

Family Medicine Residency Personal Statement Editing Service Fresh out of my first year of internship, I had felt the need to sharpen my clinical skills, and, while deciding which specialty I wanted to devote a large part of my life to, I decided to do the right thing and accepted an eleven-month rotation of community service at Hospital Immaculee Conception (H.I.C.) in Les Cayes, a city in southern Haiti, the country where I was born and returned to attend medical school after growing up in the United States. It was my first weekend on my new assignment, and of the four medical doctors assigned to that rotation, I was the first to be on call that fateful evening. The nurses were too overwhelmed to pick up the phone, so they sent the janitor to tell me. When I stepped into that emergency room, there was a sea of people screaming, crying, and bleeding so profusely that the strong smell of iron was unmistakable. Those that needed me most were those not uttering a sound. That night, because a fully loaded bus crashed, I became confident in the practice of medicine. I was instantly an orthopedist, reducing fractures as conservatively as possible since radiological images are only available in Haiti for the wealthy. I was also a full-fledged pediatrician since several injured pregnant women and children were injured. In the following days, I became a social worker, helping the wounded to find financial support for further treatment. Without losing my composure for a second, I worked all night with the nurses, after first evaluating who was alive and who was dead. Then, deciding whose life might be saved with our meager resources, implementing treatment. I love my native country and my medical school, but practicing emergency room medicine in Haiti is like playing football with one hand tied behind my back. Frankly, I feel like I have paid my dues to Haiti, at least for now, and I want to come home to America, where I grew up, where I can practice medicine with both hands. Successful Family Medicine Residency Personal Statement Examples The following eleven months of rotation experiences in various areas helped me settle my quandary concerning what specialty to pursue. Family medicine has finally stolen my heart, and I cannot resist the charm of holistic medicine and its potential for the family practitioner. I want to treat families because I am an excellent listener, and my life experiences have taught me to understand better the interconnections that always exist between a family's social, behavioral, and cultural peculiarities on the one hand and their medical issues on the other. I lived with my Alzheimer-stricken grandmother for three years during my medical school years. It was tough to see her transition from an energetic, competent adult to a completely amnesic, nonfunctional state. Throughout her illness, I reflected upon how every individual should be entitled to the best medical care that society can provide. And I have dedicated my life to doing everything possible to make this possible. I am thirty-five and single; I think because I have thus far dedicated my life to the study of medicine; between medicine and supporting myself, I never had much time for a boyfriend. However, I have not lost hope as I recognize my potential to live a happy and completely fulfilled life. I may decide to be a single mother and would most like to support the two of us as a practicing family physician. I also spent a lot of time doing community service, for many years, mostly with my church, bringing things to needy families and participating in vaccination programs. I am a cheerful woman who is an excellent company, and I want to thank you for your consideration as a resident physician in your noble institution. • IMG Residency Personal Statement Editing Service, India

Professional Internal Medicine IMG Residency Personal Statement Editing Service, India Originally from India, a mother, and a doctor who is now a US citizen, after finishing medical school, I began a residency program in Internal Medicine at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, MI in July of 2011. This was the high point of my professional life for the first six months, until January 2012, when I was forced by circumstances to resign from my residency position to protect my children. Unfortunately, as my medical career made progress and was filling my professional life like never before, my marriage descended into a bitter and sometimes violent struggle over our children—police were called on numerous occasions and charges brought. Sinai Grace offered me a three-month leave, but I felt that this would not be long enough since I found myself at the mercy of the legal system which does not move very quickly. Emergency Preparedness in the IMG Residency Personal Statement I made two critical mistakes in my life that had nothing to do with medicine but caused great damage to my career as a doctor. First, I married a man from a fundamentalist religious family with strict expectations concerning the religious education of his children. Secondly, and even worse, I agreed at first, in our initial divorce agreement, to allow the children to be educated back in India at the religious school in question. I honored my agreement, and they went; both got sick, both were abused, and both were extremely unhappy. So, as their mother, when they came back to the USA on school vacation, and that vacation ended and it was time to board the plane to go back to India, I basically kidnapped my own children and put myself in violation of the law of the land in what was still a strange country to which I was only becoming adjusted little by little at that time. I won; my children did not return to India, and they are now happy and healthy with a shared custody arrangement and increasingly self-sufficient living here and going to school in America. Thus, I want to return to Internal Medicine and redeem myself. Nothing means as much to me as practicing medicine. Emergency Preparedness in the IMG Residency Personal Statement Example I ask you to take these most difficult of circumstances into account and give me a second chance, especially considering the strides that I have made in the medical field since that time. I will soon be finishing my MPH Degree, and I am employed by the XXXX Department of Public Health working in emergency preparedness. I wish very much to be given a second chance to perform and excel in a residency position in internal medicine and I feel strongly that the experience that I have now gained in public health will make me an even better internist than I was before, with even more to offer to your program. I have learned a great deal as an MPH student concerning the challenges of practicing medicine in America. The last couple of years has helped me to become a much better person through continuous self-growth on multiple levels. I feel more knowledgeable about and empathetic to my fellow human beings. Upon being accepted to your program and returning to the practice of Internal Medicine, I will be better at what I do than I was before because I have learned to appreciate the importance of treating the patient holistically, with compassion and wisdom that considers a variety of factors from psychological to socio-economic. I can identify with many diverse cultures and languages and relate well to people from all diverse backgrounds. Since I am from India, I pride myself on my compassion for the poor and underserved, growing up in a country where I was a constant witness to the misery associated with lack of access to adequate medical attention for the lower economic and social echelons of our society. In addition to working as an intern at the XXXX Department of Public Health, I also practice as a holistic wellness coach with a focus on integrative energy. I am ready to hit the ground running and never falter in the face of long hours of service giving my all to your program. Once re-established in medicine, I plan to devote as much time as possible to our underserved communities with an eye toward creative public health initiatives. IMG Residency Personal Statement Editing Service, India I look forward to joining a residency program that provides me with an intense immersion in internal medicine that will give me exposure to diversity with respect to both patients and medical conditions. I have a great drive, energy, and passion for healing that comes with a heart fully devoted to medicine. I look forward to growing as a doctor in your organization's service and learning how to push further and think in terms of the global and local community. I look forward to working with you in my residency training and I thank you for considering my application. IMG Residency Personal Statement Editing Service, India

Professional IMG Personal Statement Writing and Editing Service My parents, grandparents, aunt, and uncles have all given their energy, lives, and careers to the world of medicine. Indeed, as a child, I remember spending my summers in my grandparent's pharmacy, ever curious about all the various collections of differently colored and shaped pills and liquids; what were they for, and what did they do? One summer, one of my grandfather's regular clients began coming in more frequently, buying medicine for her husband, who was in renal failure. Then one day, she stopped coming. Her husband had died, and I felt confused, upset, and left wondering how it could have happened if she'd been purchasing the medicine. I had learned empathy for a patient. Histories, anecdotes, and medical experiences were imparted to me throughout my childhood by my family. I feel that I have had their fingerprint placed on me, and my need for more medical knowledge stems from this mark. As I grew, so did my curiosity for science, how the human body functions, and how to restore it to health. My path was set, inherently. I was to become a physician. Graduating Magna Cum Laude is an excellent litmus test for my dedication to my academic work and indicates my enthusiasm for the work I intend to do in Internal Medicine. Indeed, I channeled this devotion to my work and clinical management skills into my medical campaign work for those lacking adequate medical care in the Dominican Republic. Nothing has taught me more excellent lessons in teamwork, sacrifices, and hard work, nor has it given me more personal satisfaction than during my volunteer work. IMG Personal Statement Editing Service During my four-month Surgical and Psychiatric Observership rotation at XXXX Hospital in Miami, Florida, I decided to apply for an Internal Medicine residency in the United States. The pride I felt in seeing daily improvements in my patients and managing multiple physiological and psychological challenges have only cemented my intention to follow the path of Internal Medicine. I intend to be a part of the finest medical training I can, where there are many opportunities to develop as both a clinician and a scientist, to build upon my experiences through access to a diverse patient population and innovative treatments. I have seen the residency of my dreams, which lies in the United States. I come from a developing nation, where we are constrained economically and must make frustrating medical decisions based upon these constraints. While this has only sharpened my resourcefulness and ability to work where I choose to educate myself will not have the financial obstacles I've encountered in the Dominican Republic. There will not be under pressure, particularly in emergencies, in which one must find that intangible balance between clinical and field knowledge, such impediments to my education. Medicine is a profession of lifelong learning, and research is the key; finding solutions to health problems and setting standards of care and disease prevention for our patient population is paramount. IMG Personal Statement Editing Service The interaction I have with my patients, the doctor-patient relationship, from admittance to discharge, is of the utmost importance to me, to see the patient through from diagnosis to resolving the problem. When I see the faces of my patients filled with trust, I feel all my work has been worthwhile, and that why I became a doctor has been realized. My commitment to improving the lives of the underprivileged is unquestionable. My work for them has strengthened my collaboration and communication skills with others in a team situation. Through my education and career, I have put into practice, as an active physician, all that I have spent years achieving. This is what I will bring to my Internal Medicine residency and more.
