I am ____ ____, an Associate Professor in the Virology Department of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) at the University of Ghana. ____ approached me over a year ago and expressed her profound interest in gaining field skills in medical and molecular research. I saw the passion with which she spoke about her ambition and career goals. Unfortunately, I could not give her feedback regarding her request at that period as I was engaged with National COVID-19 assignments. ____, however, was very persistent in her follow-ups. Finally, in July this year, she landed a position as a research assistant at the Virology Department of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR).
For the past 4 months, ____ has been working with me as an intern, learning the ropes of what we do, what we hope to do, and what we have managed to accomplish. She has contributed much to our study: “SARS-Cov-2 Surveillance at Influenza Sentinel Sites in Ghana”. ____ played a crucial role in developing and evaluating the data collection and management tools for this study. She also shouldered responsibility for collecting and managing the study database at the University of Ghana Hospital, with great diligence, radically improving data accuracy within a few weeks. Her fresh and innovative analysis and recommendation on this project have been essential to our effort to fight and contain this virus.
A compelling and organized writer; ____ critically analyses issues and consistently applies her impressive clinical knowledge to each research project. She has undoubtedly proven to be a valuable member of this research team with her originality, sense of vision, and tremendous potential.
