As an applicant to the Master's in Occupational Therapy program at ____ University, I am excited about the opportunities and possibilities that lie ahead. Completing this program will allow me to bring my academic and professional goals to fruition while also contributing to the advancement of Occupational Therapy research. The program's focus on research in areas closely related to my own interests is especially appealing to me.
As an applicant to the Master's in Occupational Therapy program, my passion lies in researching infant mental health. This field is essential, as the early years of a child's life have a significant impact on their development. My research interests are centered around educational, behavioral, and sensory processing challenges that are faced by infants who have suffered abuse, neglect, and trauma. I am particularly interested in working with adopted children, children in foster care, and immigrant children who may have faced unique challenges in their early years.
I want to investigate the causal relationships between the socio-cultural, biophysical, and environmental influences on sensory processing, integration, and development. In my homeland, India, both my little sister and my 7-year-old niece were diagnosed with autism and ADHD. This inspired my interest in researching socio-cultural influences on maternal mental health when raising a child with a disability. My passion for my work in Pediatric Therapy has been fueled by personal experience. I have reached a point in my professional career where I feel I have exhausted every path of opportunity and challenge without earning a graduate degree. ____'s OTM program will be instrumental in developing my leadership skills and providing me with a solid foundation in evidence-based research and practice. I want to be an OT to help alleviate suffering, bringing positive, sustainable relief to those who need it most.
As an aspiring master's in occupational therapy student, I am excited for the opportunity to broaden my knowledge and expertise in policy planning, program development, outcome measures, global networking, healthcare service delivery, and funding. I am passionate about making a meaningful impact on the diverse communities I will serve and am eager to learn how to make a difference.
Earning the OTM program at ____ University will enable and inspire me to make my greatest contribution to society. I am dedicated to making a lasting contribution to society by providing the highest quality of care to those in need. I am committed to exacting standards of practice, which I believe is essential to making a positive impact on the health of my patients. I also strongly believe in the importance of lifelong learning as an active researcher and member of the global OT community. These are the principles that drive my passion for OT.
I want to leave the world a little better for my having been here. This is why every day I try to affect as many lives as I can for the better through my profession, in the field that has ever brought me the greatest personal and professional satisfaction that I can imagine, OT.
Thank you for your time and consideration of my application.
